Bills take offensive tackle Tylan Grable in sixth round of NFL Draft 2024

ORCHARD PARK - The Bills have a sneaky need down the line at offensive tackle, so taking Tylan Grable from Central Florida with the first of their two sixth-round picks addresses that situation.

The Bills do not have reliable depth behind starters Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown, so Grable will be able to get into the mix for the backup roles with players like Tommy Doyle, Ryan Van Demark, Richard Gouriage and La’el Collins.

Last year, the Bills experienced uncommon good luck on the injury front among their offensive linemen as all five starters played in all 19 games counting the postseason. It was rather incredible given the nature and physicality of those positions.

Brown played 100% of the snaps which was surprising given his past injury problems, but you have to wonder if good fortune will shine again regarding injuries.

Grable began his college career at Jacksonville State and then transferred to UCF for his final two seasons. The 6-foot-5, 306-pounder started 43 of the 58 games he played in college so he comes with plenty of experience, but he’s also a sixth-round pick so there are going to be plenty of things he’ll need to work on if he hopes to make the team, probably as a practice squad player.

Throughout his college career one of his primary jobs was to protect quarterbacks but in high school, he actually played quarterback.
