Mason Cooper’s 22-yard field goal with two minutes to go provided the only points in in a defensive struggle in which neither team had 200 yards of offense. Milford, averaging 41 points per game this season, was held to 155 but limited the Warriors to 142.

Milford hosts West Clermont and Turpin, both 3-5 overall, to finish the regular season.

Lebanon gets wins over its rivals

Lebanon beat Kings for the first time since 2013, winning 20-14 in overtime.

Luke Faler threw a 15-yard TD pass to Kyle Koch with two minutes left in the fourth quarter. Daniel Wallace scored on a two-point conversion to tie the game at 14, then Wallace scored the only touchdown in overtime.

Lenanon running back Daniel Wallace (25) gave the Warriors their first win over Kings since 2013 with a walk-off touchdown in overtime.

Lebanon completed a three-game sweep of its signature rivals, beating Kings, Little Miami and Springboro. The Warriors beat both Kings and Springboro in the same season for the first time since 2009.

Lebanon hasn’t been winning pretty, but has pulled out three close wins in a row, including Turpin (14-11) and West Clermont (21-14), and is now in fifth place in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference at 4-3.

Faler is fourth in the ECC in passing yards (1,675). Koch is second in receiving yards (714) and Alex Klein is third in rushing yards (620). Quinten Wagers is second in sacks with 9.5.

Harrison back on the winning track

Harrison has had three rough years since winning its last Southwest Ohio Conference championship in 2019.

The Wildcats have gone 8-22 overall, including 1-9 last year. But the Wildcats are on the cusp of another title after beating Talawanda 47-13.

Harrison is 2-0 in the SWOC and 6-2 overall heading into a home game with Bishop Watterson this week. With a win at 1-7 Northwest to close the regular season, the Wildcats will capture the league title.

Dickie Engel is second in the SWOC in passing yards (1,102). Luke Rogers is second in receiving yards at 620, and Cole Koops is second in rushing yards (847).

CHCA gets big win in Miami Valley Conference

Since joining the Miami Valley Conference for the 2019 season, Roger Bacon had won all 19 of its games in Scarlet Division play heading into last week.

Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy broke that streak with a dramatic 42-35 win over the Spartans Friday. The win creates a four-way tie for first in the Scarlet Division, with CHCA and Roger Bacon joining Purcell Marian and Norwood.

The Eagles scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to rally from seven points down. Isaiah Petty threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to 6-foot-8 Reno Roehm in the endzone with just three seconds remaining to break a 35-all tie. Petty threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns in the game. Petty leads the MVC in passing yards (1,859)

East Central keeps rolling and routing

East Central has been an unstoppable force this season, and continued with a 62-0 win over conference foe Greensburg. The Trojans, now 8-0, have posted five straight shutouts and have outscored those foes 274-0.

Senior Mr. Football candidate Josh Ringer had 247 rushing yards on just five carries, including TD runs of 87 and 90 yards.

He has 1,549 yards, averaging nearly 12 yards per carry with 31 rushing TDs. His career rushing total is now 5,309, 50 away from second on the program’s all-time rushing list.

East Central will play its regular-season finale at Indianapolis Roncalli, which has defeated the Trojans in the regular season each of the past two seasons. EC beat Roncalli in last year’s 4A state semifinals on its way to the state championship.

A look at the remaining undefeated teams

Including Milford, there are seven teams in Southwest Ohio at a perfect 8-0 this season. Here is a brief glimpse at the others.

Princeton: The Vikings stayed atop the Greater Miami Conference with a 41-15 win over Middletown. They will play at Colerain this week.

Wyoming: The Cowboys edged Mariemont 17-14 to extend its state record regular-season winning streak to 75 games. Wyoming is atop the Cincinnati Hills League at 5-0, tied with Indian Hill, who the Cowboys will host this Friday.

Badin: The Rams edged Alter 29-24 to stay in first place in the Greater Catholic League-Coed at 3-0. Badin has now won 37-straight regular-season games since 2019. Badin will play this Friday at Chaminade-Julienne, one of three teams tied for second at 2-1.

Clinton-Massie: The Falcons ran past Western Brown 63-14 to stay atop the American Division of the Southern Buckeye at 3-0. CM will play at Batavia (3-5, 1-2) this Friday.

Williamsburg: The Wildcats flew past East Clinton 47-8 to stay atop the National Division of the SBAAC at 3-0. The Wildcats play at Bethel-Tate (4-4, 2-1) this Friday.

Cincinnati Country Day: The Nighthawks continued to clobber teams in the Miami Valley Conference, beating New Miami 49-0. CCD has outscored its foes, 334-20, and will play at Lockland (4-4, 2-1) this Friday.

Ryle gets a thrilling win over Campbell County

The Raiders rallied from a 17-point deficit with less than 10 minutes to play, tying the game at 30 on a Josh Line field goal with two seconds left. Ryle scored first in overtime to take its first lead of the game, 37-30, then won by a 37-36 final when Campbell County's two-point conversion failed.

It was a much-needed win for Ryle, which entered district play on a three-game losing streak. The Raiders have another winnable game on Oct. 13 against Great Crossing before facing Simon Kenton. In a district with only four teams, it cannot be understated how much each win means for postseason seeding.

After a season-opening win over Scott, the Camels have now lost five of their last six games.

Dayton, Newport Central Catholic earn rivalry wins

The Dayton Greendevils won their fourth straight "Battle of the Paddle," beating Bellevue 38-14. Dayton used its senior experience and rushing attack to wear down the Tigers, tallying 251 yards on the ground. Bellevue closed the gap to 22-14 early in the fourth quarter, but two Dayton touchdowns in the final six minutes put the game away.

The Greendevils won their 50th game in the most-played rivalry in Kentucky, and perhaps the last battle played at the current O.W. Davis Stadium. They trail in the all-time series 97-50-3.

The Thoroughbreds righted the ship with a 22-6 win over Newport, retaining the Fireman's Bell for the 22nd consecutive year. Demetrick Welch had his best performance since Week 3, running for 105 yards and a touchdown. Noah Ohradzansky and Mitchell Doeker each snagged an interception, and as the defense did in NCC's previous two wins, held its opponent to less than 100 rushing yards. In fact, the Thoroughbreds actually pushed the Wildcats backwards. Newport finished with minus-11 rushing yards.

Newport Central Catholic running back Demetrick Welch helped his team break a three-game losing streak in a win over Newport.

Dayton plays NCC and Newport plays Bellevue next week, meaning the winner of the Greendevils and Thoroughbreds will be guaranteed a home playoff game.

Blowouts define Class 5A

Cooper kept their trend of winning by at least 30 points alive with a 49-7 win over Scott. In six wins this season, the Jaguars are scoring 41 points while allowing just seven. Cooper saw an instant benefit from Campbell County transfer Jaiden Combs, who caught 18 passes for 240 yards in six games with the Camels.

The Jaguars' next opponent is Boone County, who fell 53-7 to Highlands. The Bluebirds celebrated head coach Bob Sphire's 300th career win by scoring 40 points or more for the sixth consecutive week. Brody Benke and Rio Litmer combined to throw for five touchdowns and Davis Hinegardner returned a kickoff for a touchdown in the blowout.

Dixie Heights quarterback Armani Gregg (7) has accounted for 25 touchdowns this season, 13 through the air and 12 on the ground.

In the final Class 5A game, Dixie Heights earned a 42-15 win over Conner. Quarterback Armani Gregg was the star of the show, throwing for 192 yards and running for 120 yards and four touchdowns. Led by Hunter Goderwis' two sacks, the Colonel defense got to Boone County quarterback six times. Dixie Heights faces Scott in Week 9, while Conner turns its attention to Highlands.

The Bluebirds currently lead the district standings with a 3-0 record. Dixie Heights and Cooper are tied with a 2-1 record, a tie which will likely be broken on Oct. 20. Scott and Conner bring up the rear with a 1-2 district record.
