The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of the Week voting occurs each week during high school sports competition and recognizes athletes across all sports.

High school sports: 2022-23 Athletes of the week

Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. If athletes haven't won in the regular season, they can be nominated more than once.

Here are this week's Athlete of the Week candidates:

Andrew Benvie, Granville Christian: Scored 37 points in a 55-54 loss to East Knox.

Caden Blamer, Upper Arlington swimming: Finished first in the 100 yard backstroke in the district meet.

Gigi Bower, Olentangy Liberty basketball: Had 20 points, seven rebounds, four steals and two assists in a 61-49 win over Gahanna Lincoln.

Payten Bruns, Hilliard Darby basketball: Had 20 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks in a 46-35 win over Hilliard Bradley.

Landon Evans, Pickerington Central basketball: Made the game-winning shot in a 45-42 win over Pickerington North.

Samuel Johnson, Worthington Christian basketball: Had 28 points and 25 rebounds in a 47-35 win over Columbus Academy to win the CBL championship.

Mackenzie Stevenson, Teays Valley wrestling: Won first place at the Delaware Hayes Invitational. She has placed in five tournaments and has a record of 26-12.
