High school football: Your guide to the 2023 season

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of the Week voting occurs each week during high school sports competition and recognizes athletes across all sports.

If you can't see the ballot when you scroll to the bottom of this story, try refreshing the link or clearing the cache in your browser. Voters can cast one vote per hour per device. You do not have to be a subscriber to vote.

Please do not email your votes; they will not count. Nominations and votes are not the same things.

Athletes are on this week's ballot based on information made available to The Dispatch, and nominations made over the past week.

High school sports: 2022-23 Athletes of the week

Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. If athletes haven't won in the regular season, they can be nominated more than once.

The Dispatch staff reserves the right to remove ballots or athletes from the ballot where voting irregularities have occurred.

Here are this week's Athlete of the Week candidates:

Dylan Armentrout, Bloom-Carroll football: Rushed for a program-record 251 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries in a 35-6 win over Logan Elm.

Gerald Banks, Watkins Memorial football: Rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries in a 21-14 loss to Licking Valley.

Brayden Bayles, Heath football: Completed 14 of 18 passes for 137 yards and rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries in a 21-14 win over Utica.

Danny Blair, Fairfield Christian football: Rushed for 464 yards and six touchdowns on 36 carries in a  61-58 win over Rosecrans.

Cameron Brannigan, Northridge football: Rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns in a 19-7 win over Lakewood.

Chris Brown Jr., Harvest Prep football: Had two receiving touchdowns, a 97-yard kickoff returned for a TD and a blocked punt returned for a TD in a 47-0 win over Richmond Heights.

Pippy Brown, Newark soccer: Scored six goals in a 10-0 win over Central Crossing.

Jonas Conn, Whetstone golf: Shot a 40 to win City League medalist honors for the second consecutive season and lead his team to the title. Conn is a three-time first-team all-City honoree.

Connor Corbett, Heath football: Rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries in a 21-14 win over Utica.

Levi Davis, Olentangy Orange football: Ran for 131 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries and completed 11 of 14 passes for 136 yards in a 35-14 win over Dublin Coffman.

Ella Dean, Upper Arlington water polo: Scored two goals from her goalie position in a 9-5 win over Worthington Kilbourne, then scored again during a tournament in Cincinnati. For the week, she had 72 saves, six assists, five steals and three goals. For the season, she has 263 saves, a 78% save rate, 18 assists, 16 steals and five goals.

Ella Fuller, Dublin Jerome soccer: Scored the game-winning goal in the final minutes against Olentangy Berlin. She previously had scored the winner vs. Bexley.

Zay Furman, Westerville South football: Had nine tackles (eight solo) and a fumble recovery in a 21-13 win over Westerville North.

Jaystin Gwinn, Westerville Central football: Rushed for 217 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries and passed for 134 yards in 33-28 win over Grove City.

Cameron Jewell, Jonathan Alder football: Rushed for 369 yards and seven touchdowns on 26 carries in a 57-48 loss to London.

Zach Jones, London football: Rushed for 248 yards and five touchdowns on 22 carries and had an interception in a 57-48 win over Jonathan Alder.

Kaynen Lindsey, Johnstown football: Rushed for 242 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries in a 36-24 win over Newark Catholic.

Jaylie Maas, Lakewood soccer: Scored three goals in a 4-0 win over Philo.

Trenton Markus, Licking Valley football: Rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries and caught four passes for 34 yards in a 21-14 win over Watkins Memorial.

Bella Martinez, Newark volleyball: Had 17 kills, three aces and 16 digs in a win over Heath.

Olentangy offensive line of Chase Selhorst, Alex Post, Micah Krenek, Bryce Quisenberry and Kyle Davis: Played key role in 52-7 win over Thomas Worthington. Olentangy rushed for 139 yards on 31 carries, and quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer completed 12 of 15 passes for 200 yards and two scores with no interceptions. The Braves punted only once.

Landen Pound, Granville Christian soccer: Scored four goals in a 5-3 win over Linden-McKinley.

Kyndall Spicer, Heath volleyball: Had 27 kills in a win over Northridge.

Jack Van Fossen, Northridge soccer: Scored four goals in a 7-2 win over Loudonville.
