Voting is open for the Athlete of the Week.

Deadline is 4 p.m. Friday.

The Athlete of the Week voting occurs each week during high school sports competition and recognizes athletes across all sports.

Athletes were nominated over the past few weeks for the vote starting Monday, May 22.

Athletes are on this week's ballot based on information made available to The Dispatch, and nominations made over the past week.

High school sports: 2022-23 Athletes of the week

Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. If athletes haven't won in the regular season, they can be nominated more than once.

Here are this week's Athlete of the Week candidates:

Stevie Asher, Highland softball: Hit a game-winning two-run single and was the winning pitcher in a 5-3 win over Jonathan Alder 5-3 in a Division II district final.

Reagan Campbell, Licking Valley track and field: Won the 400  (57.24), took second in the 200 (25.33) and helped the 1,600 relay to a season-best time of 4:14.32 at the Division II district championship.

Trevor Croak, Licking Valley track and field: Threw a distance of 53-5 in the shot put and 148-5 in the discus, sweeping the Division II, District 2 titles.

Jayden Douglas, Beechcroft track and field: Won the 110 hurdles (13.84) and 300 hurdles (37.02) and helped the 800 relay (1:28.21) and 1,600 relay (3:25.95) finish second in the district meet.

Landry Driskel, Lakewood track and field: Threw a distance of 131-11 to win the discus at the Division II district meet.

D.J. Fillmore, Licking Heights track and field: Won the 400 (48.53), was second in the 200 (21.38) and joined Jalynn Fillmore, Similoluwa Jaf-ogunlayi and Nick McDougall on the runner-up 400 relay (42.86) at the Division I, District 1 championships.

Aydan Guthrie, Watkins Memorial baseball: Went 2 for 4 with two RBIs in a 3-2 playoff victory over Olentangy. Both RBIs were two-out hits, including the walk-off in the eighth inning.

Victoria Harvey, Watkins Memorial track and field: Cleared 13-1.5 in the pole vault, raising her school record and winning the Division I, District 3 championship.

Maris Knowlton, Newark Catholic softball: Had three hits, three runs and two RBIs in a  13-2 victory over Danville in a Division IV district final.

Juliette Laracuente-Huebner, Marengo Highland track and field: Won the 100 hurdles (13.89), 200 (24.84) and long jump (19-2½) and was second in the high jump (5-5) in the Division II district meet. Her effort in the 100 hurdles matched the Division II state record in the event, also set by Perry's Leah King in 2018.

Olivia Lewis, Columbus Academy track and field: Anchored the district champion 4x800 relay, won the open 800 and ran the lead leg of the 4x400 relay which finished third to help her team win the second district title in school history.

Macey Miller, Milford Center Fairbanks track and field: Won the 100 hurdles (15.63), 300 hurdles (47.84) and high jump (5-0) and was second in the long jump (15-7¾) in the Division III district meet.

Eli Morris, Newark Catholic baseball: Struck out seven in five no-hit innings in a 9-0 victory over Fisher Catholic in a Division IV second-round game.

Reece Savage, Johnstown track and field: Won the 1,600 (5:21.25) and 3,200 (11:56.46) in the district championships.

Sanjan Shanker, Wellington tennis: Came back from a 6-0 loss in the first set to defeat defending district champion Lucas Xue of Columbus Academy 0-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the Division II district final.

Kassie Simmons, West Jefferson softball: Hit two home runs in a 9-1 win over North Union..

Peyton Tichenor, Lakewood baseball: Had a two-run single and a two-run double in a 7-3 win over Granville in a Division II second-round game.
