Best Bets: 2021 NFL Rookie Player Props

FRANK SCHWAB: I'm Yahoo Sports senior NFL writer Frank Schwab here with my three best bets for rookie player props this 2021 NFL season. Let's start at number 3 with Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Travis Etienne. The over-under on his rushing yards this year is 624.5, and I'm going to take the under. I'm buying a lot of this talk from Urban Meyer and that staff that they want to use Etienne in kind of the hybrid role.
He's done a lot as a receiver, maybe like Percy Harvin back at Florida in Urban Meyer's days there. That's going to cut into Etienne's workload. James Robinson is still there. Carlos Hyde was signed. It'll be hard for him to get over 624.5, so I'm going under with that prop.
Coming in at number 2, Atlanta Falcons tight end, Kyle Pitts. The over-under for is receiving yards is 774.5, and I'm going to take the over. Rookie tight ends often struggle, but I think Pitts is going to be the exception to that rule.
It's a phenomenal prospect coming up, the fourth overall pick. With Julio Jones traded to the Tennessee Titans, Pitts is going to get a lot of targets. I wouldn't be surprised if Pitts becomes a rare tight end to get a thousand yards as a rookie.
He's that good, and he's going to be featured in this offense alongside Calvin Ridley. He's going to have a big season, and I think he easily hits a 774.5-yard mark.
And finally at number 1, we're going to go back to the Jacksonville Jaguars and their quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence was a first pick can't miss prospect. So you'd think I'd be going over on 4,099.5 passing yards, but I'm going to take the under. Quite simply, we're asking Lawrence to have a historic rookie season to hit that mark.
Only two rookie quarterbacks ever have had 4,100 yards. One was Justin Herbert last year. Andrew Luck was the other.
