Bengals RB Joe Mixon fined by NFL for coin-flip celebration

As expected, Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon will receive a fine letter from the NFL over his coin-flip celebration in Week 18.

Mixon hid a coin in his glove and during a touchdown celebration trolled the NFL with teammates in response to the league throwing a curveball their way a week before the playoffs.

Thursday, WLWT’s Olivia Ray confirmed Mixon will get a fine letter, to which he said the following: “Yea, I’m appealing that.”

Mixon and the organization as a whole took major issue with the NFL not following the established rulebook in the wake of Week 17’s no-contest, instead opting to implement a way for them to lose home-field advantage in the playoffs via coin flip had they lost in Week 18.

The Bengals avoided the questionable one-time rule adjustment by beating the Ravens in the season finale and Chad Johnson himself has said he’ll pay the fines of any Bengals players the NFL hit for the celebration.

We’ll update when the official monetary amount goes public.
