Bengals QB Will Grier explains why he joined team

The Cincinnati Bengals turned some heads by signing former third-round pick Will Grier to the practice squad after final cuts.

But for Grier, the move was an easy decision because he saw all of the things going on in Cincinnati around Joe Burrow and the Bengals.

“I heard there was a lot of good quarterback experience here and that it was a quarterback-friendly place,” Grier said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “Honestly, it’s also a good team. That was a big part of it. To go to as competitive team with a chance to make a run at the playoffs.”

Grier was a surprise for outsiders because it seemed like the team might slot Trevor Siemian or Reid Sinnett on the practice squad while Jake Browning backed up Burrow on the active roster.

But Grier becoming available likely changed things given his former draft status and extensive experience in the league over the last five seasons.

And like Grier illustrated, it doesn’t hurt that the Bengals are something of a hot commodity outside players seek to join when possible.
