Beechwood High School announced the hire of Ross Hart as its newest basketball coach.

“We are so thrilled that Coach Hart is the next head boys basketball coach at Beechwood High School," Beechwood athletic directors Ryan Booth and Brandon Slusher said in a joint statement.

Hart, a 1,000-point scorer for the Tigers, graduated in 2002 and has been involved in Northern Kentucky basketball since his playing days. He was the varsity associate head coach and junior varsity head coach for the past five years and was on the Tigers' coaching staff from 2007-2009.

“I love Beechwood. I am so grateful for everything the school has done for me, and I am overjoyed to be able to continue giving back to the community and players in our basketball program,” Hart said.

In between stints at Beechwood, Hart served as an assistant to Jason Booher at Holmes. After returning to Fort Mitchell, Hart worked closely with former head coach Erik Goetz, who stepped down in March. Together, they led the Tigers to the 2019 All "A" state tournament title, a school-record 29 wins and an appearance in the Ninth Region title game. Goetz, who is the winningest coach in school history, knows Hart is the right man for the job.

“This job is important to him. This job is a destination job for him. This is the job he wants, and quite frankly I don’t know what more anyone could do to earn a shot at it,” Goetz said.

Part of Hart's coaching pedigree includes mentoring former Holmes standout James Bolden, who went on to play at West Virginia University and the University of Alabama, as well as 2021 Beechwood graduate and former Ninth Region all-time leading scorer Scotty Draud.

Beechwood Principal Justin Kaiser led the search with assistance from Booth and Slusher.
