Are the Bears showing interest in trading for Commanders DE Chase Young?
The NFL trade deadline is fast approaching this Tuesday, where many expect the Chicago Bears to “stand pat” after being quite active last year.
But it sounds like general manager Ryan Poles might be zeroing in on some pass rush help.
According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, there are rumors swirling around the league that link the Bears to Commanders defensive end Chase Young.
To make things more interesting, Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz is reporting that the Commanders are now “actively initiating” trade calls for teams inquiring about Young and fellow pass rusher Montez Sweat. Which means they’re no longer just listening.

On the surface, it’s not a move many would probably expect from a 2-5 team that has plenty of issues to address this offseason. But trading for Young — and subsequently signing him to an extension — would be a move for the future for this franchise.
Young, a former No. 2 pick by the Commanders, was the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020. In 15 starts, he totaled 44 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 12 QB hits, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, including one for a touchdown, and four pass breakups.
Unfortunately, the following season, he suffered a torn ACL in Week 10. But Young is finally healthy, and he’s already totaled five sacks in six games this season.
We’ll see if the Bears make a move for the young pass rusher with the NFL trade deadline just a few days away.
