BASKETBALL: Tuttle sweeps Cache at home

Jan. 14—TUTTLE — Tuttle's basketball teams got out the brooms.

The two ranked Tuttle teams hosted the Cache Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs on Friday, and both teams managed to avoid being upset. Although, the Cache boys did not make things easy for the Tigers.

The Lady Tigers — ranked seventh in Class 4A last week — trailed 2-0 in the first quarter before going on a long run and controlling the rest of a 64-38 victory. The Tigers — ranked 19th in Class 4A last week — trailed by two after three quarters but still picked up a 65-52 victory.

Boys

Tuttle went to the final quarter down 50-48, but the Tigers outscored Cache 17-2 in the final period to win by 13 points.

Chad Everett opened the final quarter with a solo 8-0 run for the Tigers, and he scored 12 of the team's 17 fourth-quarter points. After Cache scored its only points of the fourth quarter, Tuttle finished the game on a 9-0 scoring run.

Tuttle's Richie Overcash had double-digit points by the end of the first quarter. Overcash and Everett combined for 40 points in the win.

Overcash put up 21 points, and Everett scored 19 points for the Tigers.

Girls

The Lady Bulldogs actually scored the game's first two points, but the Lady Tigers responded by going on a 14-0 run to earn a double-digit lead in the first quarter.

The Lady Tigers kept good distance between them and the Lady Bulldogs from then on.

A dominant duo led the Lady Tigers in their 26-point win, combining for 43 of the team's 64 points. Samantha Teague was in double figures by the end of the first quarter, and Allie Rehl reached that point in the second quarter for the Lady Tigers.

Rehl put up 28 points in the win, and Teague chipped in with 15 points for Tuttle.
