Basketball roundup: Portland St. Patrick edges Perry, Mason wins outright CAAC Red title
PORTLAND ST. PATRICK 73, PERRY 70 (OT)
PERRY — Brayden Simon had 31 points and nine rebounds and Charlie Thelen had 22 points and eight rebounds for the Shamrocks (8-10, 6-8) in their CMAC win over Perry. DJ Jenks led Perry with 27 points and six rebounds. Austin Poirier added 14 points and five rebounds and Joey McGraw-Allen contributed 10 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for the Ramblers (10-7, 7-7).
MASON 68, FOWLERVILLE 45
MASON — Luke Marlan led the Bulldogs with a game-high 26 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a CAAC Red victory over Fowlerville. Cason Carswell picked up 17 points and dished out seven assists and Tyler Baker chipped in 13 points for Mason (17-2, 7-0). The Bulldogs secured the outright CAAC Red title with the win. Brendan Ray scored a team-high 15 points and Wyatt Soli tacked on 12 points for the Gladiators (3-14, 0-8). JV score: Fowlerville 61, Mason 47 (OT)
PEWAMO-WESTPHALIA 55, DANSVILLE 33
WESTPHALIA — Grady Eklund led all scorers with 20 points to lead the Pirates to a CMAC home victory over Dansville. Trent Piggott notched 11 points and Isaac Thelen added on five points for Pewamo-Westphalia (15-2, 12-2). Drew Frantz finished with a team-high 17 points for the Aggies (10-8, 9-6).
PORTLAND 52, LAKEWOOD 44
LAKE ODESSA ― Evan Gross led the Raiders with 16 points in their CAAC White win over Lakewood. Kayden Dickerson added 13 points for Portland (11-5, 5-5). Troy Acker had 16 points and Logan Faulkner scored 14 for Lakewood (3-15, 0-9).
CORUNNA 63, MORRICE 22
Brevin Boilore knocked down five 3s while scoring a game-high 19 points to lead the Cavaliers to a nonleague win. Braylon Socia tallied 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals and Logan Vowell tacked on eight points for Corunna. Carter Csaszar had eight points for Morrice.
GIRLS
EAST LANSING 62, WAVERLY 43
EAST LANSING ― Sophie Klinger led a balanced attack for the Trojans (10-5, 6-2) with 13 points in their CAAC Blue win over Waverly (6-9, 2-6). Kaylee King finished with 12 points for East Lansing, which also got nine points from Sydney Black and eight points from Anika Mullins.
PORTLAND 61, LAKEWOOD 29
LAKE ODESSA ― Malia Thelen finished with 15 points to lead the Raiders to a CAAC White victory over Lakewood (9-7, 6-4). Summer Stopczynski added 13 points and Kayla Weber had 11 points for Portland (14-1, 8-1).
HOLT 64, EVERETT 12
Genevieve Nagel had 14 points and Olivia Gadson scored 11 points for the Rams (11-5, 7-1) in their CAAC Blue road win over Everett. Alawiya Mahamit led Everett (0-12, 0-8) with six points.
