Saturday's results

CHATHAM GLENWOOD 8, NORMAL WEST 2: At Peoria, Cam Appenzeller dialed up 13 strikeouts while allowing just one run on three hits and no walks in five innings to lead the Titans to a nonconference win.

Andrew Wahlbrink closed out the last two innings with one unearned run and two strikeouts.

Cru Erickson and Rigley Hickman each had three hits and scored two runs. Michael Lucas delivered two triples with two RBIs.

ROCHESTER 3, PLEASANT PLAINS 2: At Plains, Jack Swaney uncorked an RBI single for an insurance run in the fifth inning and the Rockets held on for a nonconference win.

Jorey Myren, Adan Nieves and Tyson Binion each contributed two hits. Ajay Runkel tossed a complete game and gave up one earned run on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts.

Trager Shultz had two hits and two runs for the Cardinals. Owen Johnson delivered a double.

PLEASANT PLAINS 4, COAL CITY 1: At Pleasant Plains, Zach Ponce went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Plains to a nonconference win.

Ponce drove in a pair of runs for the Cardinals while Cooper Schallenberg doubled and Carter Durako hit a triple.

Taylor Brewer got the win with five innings pitched. He allowed one run on five hits and two walks.

LITCHFIELD 7, STAUNTON 2: At Staunton, Titan Hires went 3-for-4 with two RBIs as Litchfield won its 24th game to tie its program mark for most wins in a season.

Ethan Saathoff went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the South Central Conference and regular-season finale.

Tate Dobrinich and Drake Gasperson also had two hits apiece for the Purple Panthers (24-6 overall, 7-2 SCC).

Carson Saathoff struck out nine in four innings pitched to get the win. He allowed two runs on five hits and two walks. Ethan Saathoff closed out the game with three strikeouts against three hits and two walks.

Litchfield can set a school record for wins with a Class 2A Gillespie Regional semifinal win over sixth-seeded Pana on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The No. 3 Purple Panthers swept Pana in a two-game series, 6-2 and 9-5, on April 18-19.

Litchfield finished third in the SCC, behind conference champion Piasa Southwestern (9-0) and Gillespie (8-1).

The Purple Panthers lost 7-2 to Glen Carbon Father McGivney later in the day. Ethan Saathoff went 4-for-4 but the Griffins scored five runs in the bottom of the first.

ROCHESTER 8, COAL CITY 7: At Pleasant Plains, Jett Myren had a pair of two-run hits to lead the Rockets to a nonconference win.

Myren hit a two-run single in the first inning and added a two-run double in the fourth. Jack Swaney was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored for the Rockets. He also had a double. Tyson Binion and Parker Lyons both finished with two hits apiece.

Eli Carlson struck out five in four innings to get the win. He allowed one run on one hit and one walk.

SPRINGFIELD HIGH 8, GRANITE CITY 6: At Granite City, Carter Kruse had the go-ahead RBI as the Senators won their nonconference road meeting.

The Senators scored three runs in the top of the sixth to tie Granite City. In the seventh, Ethan Rutter singled before Kruse plated courtesy runner Jude Romanotto for a 7-6 lead. Enrico Veach then singled to score Kruse for the final tally.

A.J. Ozier got the win in relief. He pitched a scoreless 2 1/3 innings. Seth Impson hit two doubles, part of the Senators’ 12 hits. Springfield High improved to 15-11.

RAYMOND LINCOLNWOOD 20, LANPHIER 1 (4 innings): At Robin Roberts Stadium, Jhude Walker and Izeck Matli each had a hit and three RBIs in a nonconference win.

Mason Tryon and Jonah Elvidge produced two hits and two RBIs. Drew Gilpin earned the win in three innings. He allowed one hit and one run with seven strikeouts.

RIVERTON 6, MACON MERIDIAN 5: At Riverton, Tyler Meyer scored the walk-off run on a Talan LaDew groundball in a nonconference game.

Meyer led the Hawks with three runs. Brett Clyne was credited with the win on the mound in 1 1/3 innings. He allowed one unearned run, four hits and no walks with one strikeout.

Ethan Giberson went 5 2/3 innings with six strikeouts in a no-decision.

STAUNTON 4, HILLSBORO 3: At Staunton, Luke Goldasich was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth for what proved to be the eventual game-winning run in a South Central Conference game.

Dillon Pritchett led off the frame with a double to right field. With two outs, Braylen Brown singled to left before Victor Buehler walked to load the bases. With the score tied 3-3, Goldasich was plunked to score Pritchett.

Buehler got the win in five innings pitched. He struck out three, allowed three hits, two walks and two earned runs.

Drake McSperritt doubled and scored for Hillsboro.

JACKSONVILLE 10, NEW BERLIN 2: At New Berlin, Hayden Hicks fanned 10 and gave up two unearned runs on two hits and two walks in six innings to earn the win on the mound.

Brandon Sims homered and finished with two hits, three RBIs and two runs. Anderson Decker had three hits and three RBIs. Hicks had a double with an RBI and run.

Keaton Teel had two hits for the Pretzels.

PETERSBURG PORTA 4, CARROLLTON 1: At Petersburg, the Bluejays scored twice in the bottom of the first to take a lead that would hold for the rest of the nonconference win.

With one out and the bases loaded, Kendall Davis walked to give PORTA a 1-0 lead. One batter later, Levi Hoagload lofted a sacrifice fly as the Bluejays went ahead 2-0.

Drew Atwater went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for PORTA.

Nash Donnan got the win with 3 2/3 scoreless innings pitched. He struck out five and allowed one hit and one walk.

PETERSBURG PORTA 9, CARROLLTON 1: At Petersburg, in the nonconference doubleheader nightcap, Trace Donnan struck out three and allowed one hit in three scoreless innings to pick up the win.

Donnan also went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored at the plate.

Drew Atwater, Brayden Buffington and Brady Kinney all had two hits apiece for the Bluejays.

NOKOMIS 16, BUFFALO TRI-CITY 4 (5 innings): At Buffalo, Drake Taylor and Saint Newman combined for seven RBIs in Nokomis’ MSM Conference win.

Taylor was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs while Newman went 2-for-3 with three driven in.

Izaak Doyen, who doubled and went 2-for-3 at the plate, struck out four in four innings pitched and got the win. He allowed four runs — three earned — on six hits and five walks.

NOKOMIS 11, BUFFALO TRI-CITY 1 (5 innings): At Buffalo, Brenton Lyons went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to give his team a win in its season finale.

Saint Newman Blain Goodwin and Kannon Jonas all had two hits each for Nokomis (20-12).

Levi German struck out five in his complete-game outing. He allowed one run on four hits and three walks.

Keeton Martinsic had the Tornadoes’ lone RBI.

CHARLESTON 9, TAYLORVILLE 0: At Charleston, Colton Gatton, Kade Beckmeier, Kason Pembroke and Jacob McWard had the Tornadoes’ only hits in the first game of an Apollo Conference doubleheader loss.

CHARLESTON 17, TAYLORVILLE 8: At Charleston, Hudson DeMichael drove in three runs for the Tornadoes in the second game of an Apollo Conference doubleheader loss.

Jacob McWard and Baron Odam each had two hits apiece for Taylorville (12-17 overall). McWard added a pair of RBIs.

The Tornadoes committed nine errors.

Friday’s results

SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN 4, ROCHESTER 1: At Rochester, Chuck Linderman uncorked the go-ahead 2-RBI single in the fifth inning and the Cyclones recorded a nonconference win to end the regular season.

SHG (20-9) is the high seed in the Class 2A Pittsfield Regional and faces the winner between Beardstown and Quincy Notre Dame in the semifinals on Wednesday.

Linderman, who finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs, closed out the win on the mound in a game that was suspended in April. He allowed one run on four hits and one walk with six strikeouts.

Rochester’s Ajay Runkel had a home run.

SPRINGFIELD HIGH 7, TAYLORVILLE 5: At Taylorville, Seth Impson blasted two home runs in the nonconference win, including the go-ahead three-run home run in the fifth inning.

He also had a two-run dinger in the first inning and finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs. A.J. Ozier had two hits and two RBIs.

Enrico Veach recorded the win in 2 1/3 innings. He gave up one hit and struck out four.

Taylorville’s Baron Odam went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and one run. Isaac Repscher hit a three-run home run in the third for a 3-2 advantage.

LINCOLN 8, NORTH MAC 2: At Virden, Jarrett Evers belted a three-run home run as the Railers broke a 2-2 tie with five runs in the top of the sixth inning for a nonconference victory.

Griffin Shaw and Karson Komnick had an RBI each for Lincoln. Drew Hayes threw four relief innings and picked up the win. Hayes allowed four hits and no runs with one strikeout and one walk.

NEW BERLIN 6, SOUTHEAST 5: At Eisenhower Park, New Berlin plated two runs each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings and held off the Spartans for a nonconference win.

Southeast had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but Rockman Prince recorded the final two outs to get out of the jam.

Trevor Colwell went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs and Wesley Preckwinkle and Lucas Bixby had two hits each and an RBI apiece for New Berlin. Prince finished 2-for-4 with a run.

Carter Hood, Ethan Murphy, Tim Herrington, Brayden Twist and Braxton Twist provided Southeast with two hits apiece.

PLEASANT PLAINS 5, ST. JOSEPH-OGDEN 2: At Plains, Trager Shultz lifted the Cardinals ahead with an RBI groundout in the second inning and wound up with two hits and a run at the bottom of the order.

Cooper Schallenberg and Grady Grisham supplied the insurance runs with RBI hits in the fourth for a 3-0 lead. Charlie Severino delivered the final RBI single in the fifth for the final score.

Severino, Owen Johnson, Zach Ponce and Carter Durako also had two hits apiece. Sean Lowder generated the win on the mound in a complete game. He allowed two runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

STAUNTON 4, CARLINVILLE 3: At Carlinville, Dillon Pritchett gave Staunton the lead with a two-run home run in the top of the fourth inning and the Bulldogs edged the Cavaliers.

Staunton scored a pair of runs in the first on back-to-back RBI singles by Drake Billings and Zander Machota. Carlinville got a run in the bottom half on an RBI single by Blake Killam and then took a 3-2 lead with two runs in the third.

Noah Convery finished 3-for-4 with a run scored for Carlinville.

JACKSONVILLE ROUTT 8, PAWNEE 4: At Pawnee, Brady Turner and Jace Lautemann had two RBIs apiece in the win.

Eli Olson finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and Nate Turner had a pair of hits and two runs for Routt, which had five doubles.

NOKOMIS 7, RIVERTON 2: At Riverton, Levi German went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs in Nokomis’ win.

Conner Wilson had two hits and three RBIs and Brenton Lyons and Izaak Doyen drove in two runs apiece.

Saint Newman went 2-for-4 with a run and winning pitcher Drake Taylor tossed a complete game for Nokomis. Taylor gave up six hits and one earned run to go with four strikeouts and three walks.

DELAVAN 12, MOUNT PULASKI 0 (5 innings): At Mount Pulaski, Delavan’s Alex Seaton threw a four-hit shutout and the Hilltoppers lost their second straight game to drop to 22-3.

Seaton struck out four and walked one and was supported by Kelton Nafziger, who went 3-for-3 with a double, triple and three RBIs. Cole Noreuil had three hits and scored three runs for Delavan.

LITCHFIELD 9, HILLSBORO 1: At Litchfield, the Purple Panthers scored nine runs in the first inning and rolled to a win.

Litchfield batted around in the first, getting a run-scoring double and a two-run single from Drew Gasperson. Tate Dobrinich added a two-run single and Max Leitschuh drove in two runs with a double. Carson Saathoff also had an RBI single for the Panthers.

Four Litchfield pitchers combined on a two-hitter and Dobrinich threw 1 2/3 innings and struck out four to record the win.

CUBA NORTH FULTON 12, BEARDSTOWN 2 (5 innings): At Cuba, Beardstown was limited to three hits and committed five errors in the loss.

Ethan Heller had an RBI double for Beardstown.

RUSHVILLE-INDUSTRY 6, MOUNT STERLING BROWN COUNTY 1: At Rushville, Bennett Fretueg provided a 3-RBI double in the second inning and finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs in the win.

Wyatt Fowler had a hit and scored twice. Macon Kessler picked up the win in six innings. He gave up one run on five hits and one walk with eight strikeouts.

BUFFALO TRI-CITY 12, BUNKER HILL 6: At Bunker Hill, Tri-City exploded for 11 runs in the final two innings to collect a nonconference victory.

Noah Clark went 3-for-4 with a double and scored three runs and Chase Webster hit a solo home run for Tri-City. Griffin Giles went 2-for-3, scored twice and drove in two runs and Dylan Roach added a pair of hits with an RBI in the win.
