Brett Gardner and Mark Teixeira had two RBIs apiece for the Yankees (31-25). Mike Trout hit his 15th home run of the season for the Angels (28-28). - - - Giants 7, Phillies 5 Left-hander Madison Bumgarner allowed five runs in eight innings but received plenty of run support as the San Francisco Giants held off the Philadelphia Phillies. Bumgarner (7-2) struck out 11 while the Giants (32-25) scored six runs on eight hits over the first three innings. Philadelphia (21-36) didn't go quietly: Right fielder Jeff Francoeur tagged Bumgarner for a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth but San Francisco held on. - - - Brewers 4, Twins 2 Carlos Gomez had four hits and right-hander Matt Garza pitched seven strong innings as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Minnesota Twins. Gomez, traded from Minnesota to Milwaukee in 2009, knocked in three runs, including the go-ahead runs on a two-RBI single in the seventh inning. Minnesota (32-23) is 2-4 over its last six games, all against last-place teams. - - - Rangers 4, Royals 2 Shin-Soo Choo had two hits, drove in two runs and scored and Wandy Rodriguez tossed seven effective innings as the streaking Texas Rangers topped the Kansas City Royals. The Rangers (30-26) have won seven of eight and 15 of 19, while the Royals (30-23) lost for the ninth time in 11 games. - - - Blue Jays 7, Astros 2 Drew Hutchison pitched into the seventh inning and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Houston Astros to extend their winning streak to a season-best four games. Hutchison (5-1) struck out five while center fielder Kevin Pillar had two hits and two runs batted in for the Blue Jays (27-30). The American League-leading Astros fell to 34-23. - - - Cubs 4, Nationals 2 Right-hander Jason Hammel allowed two runs and five hits in eight innings and center fielder Dexter Fowler had two hits and scored twice as the Chicago Cubs beat the Washington Nationals. Hammel improved to 5-2 for the Cubs (29-25) while Nationals (30-26) slugger Bryce Harper had two hits and hit his Major League-leading 19th home run of the season. - - - Indians 2, Orioles 1 Carlos Santana broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI double in the sixth inning and Danny Salazar struck out 10 in seven innings as the Cleveland Indians beat the Baltimore Orioles. The right-handed Salazar (6-1) held Baltimore (25-30) to one run and six hits with 10 strikeouts. Cleveland moved to 27-28. - - - Padres 9, Reds 7 Yonder Alonso belted a game-tying grand slam in the seventh inning and Matt Kemp had a homer and five RBIs, lifting the San Diego Padres to a victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Kemp went 3-for-5 with a double, homer and the go-ahead two-run single in the eighth for San Diego (29-28). Cincinnati (23-31) blew a five-run lead for the first time this season. - - - Rockies 10, Marlins 5 Wilin Rosario hit two solo homers and right fielder Carlos Gonzalez belted a three-run shot as Colorado blasted Miami. The Rockies (25-29) piled up a season-high 17 hits while the Marlins fell to 25-29. - - - Red Sox 4, Athletics 2 Joe Kelly pitched six strong innings and Hanley Ramirez had three hits, including a two-run homer, to send the Boston Red Sox to a victory over the Oakland Athletics. Boston moved to 26-31, dropping Oakland to 23-35. - - - Tigers 7, White Sox 1 Miguel Cabrera homered and left-hander David Price gave up just one run in a complete game as the Detroit Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox to snap an eight-game losing streak. Price (5-2) picked up his second win in three starts as he gave up five hits, walked two and struck out 11, one off his career high for the Tigers (29-28). - - - Braves 5, Pirates 4 Christian Bethancourt led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a home run as the Braves defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was the first career homer for the young catcher and his third hit of the game. The Pirates (30-25) had tied it in the eighth on a two-run single by right fielder Gregory Polanco, his third hit of the game, against reliever Jim Johnson. - - - Mariners 2, Rays 1 Felix Hernandez bounced back from his worst outing of the season, and center fielder Austin Jackson provided the big hit with a seventh-inning home run, as the Seattle Mariners snapped their seven-game losing streak. Hernandez (9-2) allowed just two hits and one earned run over seven innings, becoming baseball's first pitcher to nine wins. It was his first start since giving up seven earned runs in a 7-2 loss to the New York Yankees on Monday night. Tampa Bay (30-27) had just three hits while having its four-game winning streak snapped. - - - Diamondbacks 2, Mets 1 Welington Castillo hit his first Arizona home run, a two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh inning, lifting the Diamondbacks to a win over the New York Mets. Yasiel Puig, who missed 38 games with a strained left hamstring before being activated Saturday, broke up a scoreless contest by driving in a run as the Dodgers (32-24) snapped a three-game skid and ended the Cardinals' four-game winning streak.
