Bartlesville volleyball

AUG. 31: Bartlesville 3, Glenpool 1 — Led by the rocket kills of Brown and Ward and the powerful contributions by middle hitters Marissa Demuth and Rya Christensen, Bartlesville cruised to the win, 25-15, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19. In the first game, Bartlesville went ahead, 16-11, following a Ward kill and block point by Demuth. Hayden Brandon served for eight points during a service turn. In game two, Christensen and Demuth controlled the middle. Brown crushed a super-sonic kill to put Bartlesville ahead, 17-10. Demuth scored the winning point. Game four saw Bartlesville pull ahead during Emma Parsley's service turn. Ava Smith made a pancake save. Brown's soft tap point sealed the win.

Bartlesville cross country

SEPT. 2: SAPULPA GIRLS RUN (2 miles) — Bartlesville stormed to the varsity championship, leaving everyone else in another zip code. The Lady Bruins tallied a near perfect score (19 points); Sapulpa was second with 57. The Lady Bruins placed four runners in the top 10 — Emily Lechuga (2nd, 13:04.42), Katherine Manley (3rd, 13:06.95), Maryann Alvey (7th, 13:36.61) and Reese Savage (9th, 13:56.17). Kaitlyn Taylor rounded out the team’s top five (16th, 14:41.68). Rounding out the top seven were Olivia Ontiveros (20th, 14:56.95) and Kailey Malcom (22nd (15:05.61). JUNIOR HIGH: Bartlesville came in second, topped by Madilyn Malcom (7th, 6:11.0) and Annika Dennis (16th, 6:28.14).

SEPT. 2: SAPULPA BOYS RUN (2 miles) — Paced by Will Bolding (2nd, 10:44.57) and Russell Miller (3rd, 10:46.88), the Bruins finished third as a team. Their other fastest finishers included: Cade Winter (24th, 12:08.27), Preston Shoesmith (29th, 12:17.76), Jackson Boudreaux (32nd, 12:19.86) and Grayson Tesavis (36th, 12:26.7). JAYVEE: Bartlesville came in second, led by top 20 finishers Chase Laxson (5th, 12:12.7). Ashton Lindsaybrothers (7th, 12:18.55), Michael Taylor (13th, 12:33.31) and Ben Lauritsen (17th, 12:56.56). JUNIOR HIGH: Bartlesville came in third, led by Jim Dudley (12th, 5:37.43) ad Grayson Ellis (17th, 5:43.38).

Bartlesville softball

AUG 28: Owasso 9, Bartlesville 0 -- BHS produced only 3 hits -- 1 each by Isabell Daniels, Parker Fielder and Lola Redington -- and suffered just its second shutout loss. Owasso scored just 3 earned runs off BHS pitcher Kelsie Yales.

AUG. 29: Owasso 10, Bartlesville 0 -- Daniels doubled and Chelsea Goddard singled for Bartlesville's hits. Alison Rosson suffered the pitching loss.

SEPT. 1: Francis Howell 6, Bartlesville 1 — Howell scored 4 times in the 4th. Goddard spanked two hits and scored Bartlesville’s run. Daniels and Casey each singled and Maddie Czaja was hit by a pitch. Yales suffered the circle loss.

SEPT 1: Lafayette 2, Bartlesville 0 — Robbins, Goddard and Czaja all singled; Robbins stole a base. Rosson suffered the pitching setback on a three-hitter.

SEPT. 2; Bartlesville 5, Washington 1 — The Lady Bruins (7-14) broke a four-game losing streak. Robbins ripped three hits and Redington drove in two runs. Goddard and Casey added two hits each. Yales snapped off a four-hitter with one walk and two K’s.

Dewey softball

AUG. 28: Berryhill 5, DHS 1 -- Dewey (11-4) suffered just its second conference loss in six outings. Pitcher Kyla Overton pitched well, Dewey head coach Niki Keck said, but Berryhill did a good job of placing its hits. Relief pitcher Reagan White snapped off two shutout innings.

AUG. 29: Dewey 14, Caney Valley 2 -- The Dewey Lady Doggers (12-4) White-washed the CV Lady Trojans with an outstanding pitching effort by White, who snapped off a one-hitter with four strikeouts. Overton, Maycee Smith and Kirsten Kay each belted three hits, with Overton driving in two runs. Londyn Bond added two hits and three RBIs.

AUG. 31: Dewey wins 3 — The Lady Doggers (15-4) dominated competition during a Thursday festival. They beat Sperry, 5-2; downed Central Sallisaw, 5-1; and hit a walk-off homer in an extra inning to down Mannford, 5-3. Dewey scored four times in the final inning — Smith doubled home Shawna Sutton, Chanley Herren sacrificed Smith to third, Kay plated Smith on a single to tie the game, 3-3. Then, Bond stepped up and drilled a homer. White pitched the distance against Sperry, Overton went the route against Mannford.

Copan softball

AUG. 28: Prue 4, Copan 2 -- Despite 5 errors and 8 runners stranded, the up-and-coming Copan Lady Hornets proved their competitive mettle. Kam Van pitched the distance and also belted 3 hits to lead Copan. Katie Donaho added 2 hits; Elyzabeth Odum and Amy Nittler added one hit each.

AUG. 31: Copan 16, Welch 3: Copan stormed to its sixth win with Van contributing both with her pitching arm and her bat. Van hurled a three-hitter and struck out three batters; she erupted at the plate by going 4-for-4 with four RBI's. Odum added a triple, two singles and two RBI's. Kylee Cobb and Nittler delivered two singles apiece.

Caney Valley softball

AUG. 29: Dewey 14, Caney Valley 2 -- The CV Lady Trojans (4-9) were coming off a 13-12 win against Oklahoma Union. Prior to that, they had lost 7 straight.
