Barrington, Ponaganset, Westerly, North Kingstown and Portsmouth win in D-I girls basketball

BOYS BASKETBALL

Division III

West Warwick 71, St. Patrick 30

In a game in which not one player reached double-digits in scoring, West Warwick had 17 of its 18 players get on the scoreboard and its defense held St. Patrick scoreless in both the second and third quarters and rolled to victory. The Wizards' Zach Lawrence led all scorers with 9 points and teammates Dylan Viveiros, Greg Benton and Jayden Hall each scored 7 points. Leading the way for SP were Daniel Mancebo with 7 points and Giancarlo Abreu and Francisco Damoura with 6 points each.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Division I

Barrington 52, East Providence 27

Maddie Gill poured in 19 points and Isys Dunphy was right behind with 15 points as they powered the Eagles, now 9-1,  to the win. Audrey Bernard had 10 points for the Townies, now 1-8.

Ponaganset 45, Juanita Sanchez 34

Jaina Yekelchik poured in game-high 20 points and teammate Anastasia Nerney found the range for a dozen as the Chieftains upended the Cavaliers in a D-I crossover. Charlize Romero topped JS in scoring with 11 points, Arianna Fernandez scored 9 and Damaris Antigua added 8 in the loss.

Westerly 46, Scituate 39

Madison Pellegrino's 13 points led the Bulldogs to their sixth win in 10 decisions. Gabriello Russillo and Sydney Pagnozzi each had 8 points for the Spartans.

Bay View 49, Cranston West 32

Ava Wasylow scored 14 points and Gianna Paolino and Sofia Moreno knocked down 10 apiece as Bay View toppled Cranston West. Maia Riccio led the Falcons with 10 points.

North Kingstown 50, Rogers 22

The Skippers jumped out to an 11-3 first-quarter lead, extended that to 28-9 by halftime and never looked back as they won their 10th game against only one loss. Jaelyn Holmes led the attack with 18 points and Brooke Faunce nearly matched her with 16. Tameka Robertson had 10 for the Vikings, who sink to 0-11.

Portsmouth 63, South Kingstown 34

Freshman Gyselle Mairs scored 15 points in the first half and 25 overall as the Patriots raced by South Kingstown. Mairs was a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line and connected on a pair of triples. Olivia Durant hit three 3s for 13 points as Portsmouth remains on top of Division I C. Victoria Hancock tallied 10 for SK.

Division II

East Greenwich 59, Mount Pleasant 11

Brooke Fairbanks accounted for 17 points, the only player in the game to reach double figures, as the Avengers cruised to their third win in 10 games. The Kilties are 0-9.

Chariho 56, Tiverton 31

The Chargers maintained their first-place lead in Division II-A with a dominating win over the Tigers. Megan Ballard led the way for Chariho with 13 points and Jules White and Brianna DeGiacomo each had 9 points. Jah'niece Branch topped Tiverton with 12 points.

Division III

EWG 32, North Smithfield 25

Kate Hebert had a strong all-around game as she scored 14 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and had a steal, and Ella Johnson chipped in with 7 points, 3 steals and 3 rebounds en route to the victory for the Scarlet Knights, who improve to 8-2. Kendall Husband added 7 points and 4 rebounds for EWG. Olivia Labonte had 7 points for North Smithfield, now 4-4.

North Providence 61, Lincoln 48

The balanced scoring of Makenna Heon (20 points), Lusine Hagopian (15) and Riddhi Mistry (15) propelled the Cougars to victory. Lauren Cipriano led all scorers with 24 points and Tayla Valentin had 12 but it wasn't enough for the Lions, who slip to 4-6. North Providence improves to 5-4.

Division IV

Davies 37, Times2 co-op 25

Maddison Belanger finished with 14 points and Jayla Depina added 8 as the Patriots won their seventh straight divisional game without a loss. The Bald Eagles slip to 2-7.  Arisbel Pinales sank three 3-pointers for 9 points for Times2.

Nonleague

Moses Brown 54, Woonsocket 15

Jaelynn Perez (14) and Lauren Bousquet (13) combined for half of Moses Brown's total points as Quakers overwhelmed Woonsocket in a nonleague contest. Techar Tarponweh's 8 points and Alanna Colon's 7 points provided the only scoring for the Villa Novans in the loss.
