Baker Mayfield finished with a top-10 PFF passing grade at quarterback in 2020

The Cleveland Browns have themselves a top-10 overall quarterback. Baker Mayfield proved he belongs in that lofty turf with a very impressive 2020 season.

Mayfield’s strong first season under head coach Kevin Stefanski wound up lifting No. 6 into the top 10 passing grades as determined by Pro Football Focus. Mayfield graded out with a passing grade of 81.6, which places him 10th in the NFL in PFF throwing scores. Sandwiched between Matt Ryan and Kirk Cousins, Mayfield’s passing graded out higher than some notable other QBs including Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Drew Brees and Matthew Stafford.

A lower grade on fumbling and running drops Mayfield out of the overall top 10 quarterback scores for 2020. He finished 13th overall in his third season. In 2019, Mayfield graded out 17th as a passer and 15th overall among QBs who took at least 50 percent of their team’s snaps.

Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Deshaun Watson earned the top three passing grades. Sam Darnold, Nick Mullens and Carson Wentz were at the bottom of PFF’s grading.
