Tough loss! Cavaliers fall to Celtics in Game 3
Cleveland (WJW) – The Cleveland Cavaliers returned to Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse Saturday night after stealing home court advantage away from the Boston Celtics on Thursday with a 24-point win.
Unfortunately, Game 3 did not go the Cavs’ way. It ended with a score 106-93, Celtics winning.
Here’s how it went down:

Jarrett Allen, who has yet to play in this series, was also listed as questionable ahead of the game. He is battling sore ribs.
In the first quarter, the two teams went back and fourth with the lead, but the Celtics ultimately came out on top.
At the end of the 1st Qtr…#Celtics lead #Cavs 30-28.
Jayson Tatum has 12 while Donovan Mitchell has 11 points.
Both teams have nearly identical 1st qtr stats except Boston has capitalized on Cleveland's turnovers (6 pts off turnovers).@fox8news— John Sabol (@John_Sabol) May 12, 2024
At the half, the Celtics had made the differential a little larger.
#Celtics take a 57-48 lead into halftime.
After struggling from the field in Game 2, Boston is shooting 54% in the 1st half including 7 threes. They made 8 threes in total in Game 2.
Donovan Mitchell has 25 1st half pts. He's getting no help. #Cavs need another scorer@fox8news— John Sabol (@John_Sabol) May 12, 2024
Anytime the team appeared to be getting something rolling in the third quarter, the Celtics had an answer for it. The third quarter ended at 84-69, with Boston up. Still, the space was still roaring with energy for the Cavaliers.
Despite that, the Cavs couldn’t pull off a win at home, losing for the first time at Rocket Mortgage in this year’s playoffs.
#Cavs give up 100+ points at home and struggle from long distance again as they lose at home for the first time in the postseason and face a 2-1 series deficit heading into Game 4 on Monday night. Boston regains home court advantage.

Back on Thursday, the Cavs had a team effort in the 118-94 win over Boston.
Cleveland got help off the bench. They got help from the other starters, they made shots and they were efficient in stopping Boston’s barrage of three-pointers, limiting the Celtics to just 8 total on 23% shooting.
