Australian Open schedule: Coco Gauff and Ben Shelton feature in third-round matches
The third round of the men’s and women's singles at the Australian Open takes place on Day 6.
For the first time, Coco Gauff will face fellow American, unseeded Alycia Parks. This match will be Gauff's first significant challenge of the tournament.
The 23-year-old tennis player from Atlanta will be competing against Gauff with the intention of ending her winning streak of nine Grand Slam matches. Parks is known for her powerful and fast serve, but despite her strength, Gauff is still expected to be the favorite to advance to the next round, as she aims to secure her second Major victory.
In the Men's Singles competition, Ben Shelton, the No.16 seed American, defeated Christopher O'Connell 6-4, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(5) to progress to the third round. Shelton will now face off against Adrian Mannarino, the No. 20 seed Frenchman. If Shelton wins the third round match, he could come face-to-face with the tournament favorite, Novak Djokovic. This would be the first time they meet since last year's US Open.
