Texas Southern enters the game with a 1-4 record. The Tigers have played a challenging schedule to this point, playing opponents such as Texas Tech, Houston, San Francisco, and Oral Roberts, losing by an average of 22.5 points.

However, they do own a win over Arizona State. Texas Southern knocked off the Sun Devils in overtime last Sunday, 67-66 in Houston. In the win, P.J. Henry scored 22 points in 31 minutes of action, while Joirdon Karl Nicholas pulled down nine boards.
