Auburn Tiger Snapshot Profile: No. 33 Joko Willis

Going into the 2022 football season, Auburn Wire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Tigers’ roster.

Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Bryan Harsin this season.

Up next is linebacker Joko Willis. Willis played at Independence Community College before transferring to Auburn ahead of the 2021 season. He was primarily used on special teams in his first season on the Plains, a role he excelled in, but is set to have a larger role on the defense in the coming season.

Depth Chart Overview

The former JUCO player was one of Auburn’s top players on special teams last season and is looking to carve out a bigger role for himself on defense.

He stepped into Chandler Wooten’s “Star” position during spring practice and played well. However, he has been spending time with the edge position after spring and may play there to help alleviate some of the depth concerns.

The redshirt sophomore has the athleticism to play either position and is certainly capable of delivering a punishing hit when he gets to the ball carrier.
