Atlanta Falcons: Fantasy Football Week 2 – Start or Sit
See which Atlanta Falcons to play and who to avoid during Week 2 of your Fantasy Football contests …
Prior to looking ahead at a Week Two matchup with the Oakland Raiders, let’s take a look back at the picks from last week.
START:
Matt Ryan – 27/39, 334 yards, 2 TD (24.36 points)
Julio Jones – 4 receptions, 66 yards, TD (11.30 points)
Mohamed Sanu – 5 receptions, 80 yards, TD (12.50 points)
GRADE: A+
Ryan didn’t turn the ball over and both Jones and Sanu caught touchdown passes. Fantasy wise, it was a victory but unfortunately these high numbers didn’t correlate to a win on the field.
SIT:
Devonta Freeman – 11 carries, 20 yards, 4 receptions, 20 yards (5.00 points)
ATL Defense – 31 points allowed, 1 interception (1.00 point)
GRADE: A
Freeman’s four catches increased production as Atlanta’s run game disappeared and the defensive lack of a pass rush will be a concern moving forward for Fantasy owners.

START: Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Mohamed Sanu
Much like last week the passing game should dominate against what looks to be a porous Raiders secondary. Allowing two 140-yard receivers a week ago, all three Falcons are poised for productive days. Willie Snead, the Saints number two receiver, caught nine passes for 172-yards and a touchdown. Sanu owners should consider him a must start or check the waiver wire as he could still be available in shallow leagues.
If the run game struggles at the onset, Ryan will be forced to move the ball through the air. Targeting both Freeman and Tevin Coleman out of the backfield will be a viable option as it was a week ago. Either way, it adds up to points for Ryan owners.
SIT: Jacob Tamme, ATL Defense
Jacob Tamme caught six passes a week ago, but his production is likely to decline in Oakland. The Raiders only allowed Saints’ tight end Coby Fleener to record one catch despite the gaudy passing numbers for quarterback Drew Brees.
The Atlanta defense continues to be a work in progress and starting safety Keanu Neal hasn’t been ruled out, but isn’t expected to play. There are currently more viable options than the Falcons young defense who failed to record a sack, generated only one turnover, and allowed over 30 points during Week One.
