Lincoln's Kloe Froebe is The State Journal-Register's athlete of the week.

The poll closed at noon on Friday. Information about the nominees is below. Froebe won with 83% of the vote, or 280 votes total.

Luke Blackford, Calvary, boys basketball

The sophomore standout poured in a career-high 39 points in a 79-47 win over Peoria Quest on Monday. Blackford had 16 points at the half and added 19 more in the third quarter. He is averaging 24.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game

Amaree Burries, Jacksonville, boys basketball

The junior guard scored 15 of his game-high 25 points in the first half en route to a 64-50 Central State Eight Conference win over Springfield High at The Bowl on Saturday. He connected on four of the team's 10 3-pointers.

Kloe Froebe, Lincoln, girls basketball

The senior guard eclipsed 2,500 career points in a 76-30 Central State Eight Conference victory over Rochester on Friday. She broke Steph Reichle’s all-time scoring record of 2,376 career points that had stood at Lincoln since 1999 earlier this season.

Pryor Reynolds, Athens, boys basketball

The senior totaled 26 points with 13 points in each half in a 55-44 nonconference victory over Mount Pulaski on Friday. Reynolds made 10 field goals and, despite going 16-for-33 (48.4 percent) from the charity stripe, Athens improved to 5-2.

Elizah Thomas, Beardstown, boys basketball

The senior knocked down seven 3-pointers on the way to 37 points in a 73-64 nonconference road win over Liberty on Tuesday. Thomas had 13 points in the first period and 11 in the second, making four 3s in the first half.

Makenna Yeager, Chatham Glenwood, girls basketball

The senior guard surpassed 1,000 career points and finished with a game-high 20 points to lead Chatham Glenwood to a 53-50 overtime win over Sacred Heart-Griffin at Jim Belz Gymnasium on Friday. Yeager hit the mark in overtime as the guard scored six points in the extra period. She connected on three 3-pointers and was 5-for-5 at the free-throw line. She hit all four of her free throws in OT.
