Portland junior quarterback Dominic Novara (No. 11) celebrates a touchdown against Ionia during a varsity football game Friday, Sept. 8, at Portland High School. Portland won the game, 42-6.

The dominant wins keep coming for several of Greater Lansing's top high school football teams.

Mason captured at least a share of the CAAC Red crown with a rout of Eastern, Portland maintained its spot tied atop the CAAC White with a victory over Eaton Rapids, Ithaca rolled to another shutout win and Corunna made a big statement with its Flint Metro League victory over Division 4 top-ranked Goodrich.

And each of those programs is part of the top five in their divisions in the latest installment of the Associated Press high school football rankings to lead the presence by Lansing area teams.

Mason maintained its hold on the top spot in Division 3 for a second straight week, while Ithaca remained at No. 2 in Division 8.

Portland jumped up two spots to No. 4 in Division 4 after its latest win, while Corunna moved up a spot to No. 3 in Division 5 after taking down Goodrich in a matchup of unbeatens.

Those four programs are among 10 from Greater Lansing featured in the top 10 of their divisions. Sexton, which is tied atop the CAAC White with Portland, moved up a spot and is No. 8 in Division 4.

Pewamo-Westphalia, which claimed at least a share of the CMAC title with a win over rival Fowler, is No. 8 in Division 7. Fowler is No. 6 in Division 8.

A trio of area 8-man programs are in the top 10 with Carson City-Crystal being ranked No. 4 and Maple Valley at No. 8 in Division 1. In 8-man Division 2, Portland St. Patrick is ranked No. 9. Morrice and Fulton are receiving votes and just outside the top 10 in Division 2.
