Arkansas baseball live score updates vs. Ole Miss: Hogs sweep Rebels

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas baseball clinched series victory against Ole Miss Friday night and will now go for the sweep on Saturday.

The No. 1 Razorbacks (26-3, 10-1 SEC) scored four runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back in an 8-3 win over the Rebels (18-13, 3-7). Wehiwa Aloy hit his second home run of the series, while the bullpen pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings to secure the 20th straight home win.

On Thursday night, Hagen Smith struck out 11 batters across six innings, and Will McEntire was brilliant in relief, pitching 2 2/3 scoreless innings as the Hogs won 5-2.

Game 3

Ninth Inning

Seventh Inning

  • Arkansas adds an insurance run on an RBI groundout from Peyton Stovall. The Hogs lead Ole Miss 7-3 as we head to the eighth.

  • Nolan Souza, again. The freshman crushes a three-run homer to right field, and Arkansas leads Ole Miss 6-3 with no outs in the inning. Souza is quickly becoming a star for the Hogs.

Sixth Inning

  • Ole Miss ties things up on an RBI single by Brayden Randle. Parker Coil gave up the lead, and Gabe Gaeckle came out of the bullpen to record the final out of the inning. We head to the bottom of the sixth with the score 3-3.

Fifth Inning

  • The Rebels' advantage didn't last long, as Arkansas strikes for two runs to retake a 3-2 lead. Nolan Souza had an RBI single in the inning. Parker Coil is coming out the bullpen for Arkansas in the sixth.

  • Ole Miss takes advantage of some soft base hits to score two runs off Brady Tygart and knock the Arkansas starting pitcher out of the game. Jake Faherty came out of the bullpen to limit the damage, but the Rebels now lead 2-1 as we head to the bottom half.

Fourth Inning

  • Freshman Nolan Souza leaves the yard for his fifth homer of the season, and the Razorbacks lead the Rebels 1-0. Souza's bomb went 404-feet to right and was 104 mph off the bat. With two outs in the inning, Ole Miss is turning to its bullpen.

  • Brady Tygart works a round a pair of walks by striking out the side. Tygart now has seven strikeouts through four innings. It's still 0-0.

Third Inning

  • It's another big missed opportunity for Arkansas as Mason Nichols gets out of a bases-loaded jam by striking out Kendall Diggs and getting Ross Lovich to pop out to third. It's still scoreless as we head to the fourth inning.

Second Inning

  • No score in the second, with both teams stranding runners on first and second. It's 0-0 as we head to the third.

First Inning

  • Mason Nichols makes a statement, striking out three Arkansas batters on just 10 pitches. The first inning lasted just eight minutes.

Seventh Inning

  • Arkansas adds a run with an RBI single by Will Edmunson, scoring Jared Sprague-Lott. The Hogs are turning to Gage Wood out of the bullpen with an 8-3 lead in the eighth.

Sixth Inning

  • Wehiwa Aloy hits a two-run homer to center field, and the Hogs lead Ole Miss 7-3 as we head to the seventh. That was the second home run of the weekend for Aloy, who leads the team with eight bombs and 32 RBIs on the season. Ben McLaughlin nearly made it back-to-back, but his long drive to left field was caught against the wall.

  • Ole Miss gets runners to first and second, but Christian Foutch comes out of the pen and gets a quick groundout to end the inning. Arkansas leads 5-3 as we head to the bottom of the sixth.

Fifth Inning

  • Wow. Ole Miss got the bases loaded with one out, but a fielder's choice turned into an inning-ending double play due to the Ole Miss breaking the force-play slide rule at second base as Andrew Fischer tried to break up Peyton Stovall's throw to first. Koty Frank came out of the bullpen and pitched himself into a jam, but he gets out of it and the Hogs lead 5-3.

Fourth Inning

  • Aloy drives in a run with a sacrifice fly to the warning track in right, but the Hogs strand the bases loaded and miss an opportunity to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. Arkansas leads Ole Miss 5-3 as we head to the fifth.

  • Arkansas has the bases loaded with one out, and Ole Miss is going to the bullpen. Mitch Murrell will be summoned to face Wehiwa Aloy in a key spot.

  • Mason Molina works a scoreless frame with help from Ty Wilmsmeyer. The center fielder threw a dart to third base for an outfield assist as Ethan Groff was tagging up from second. The Hogs lead Ole Miss 4-3 as we head to the bottom of the fourth.
