The Arizona Republic's top 10 high school boys basketball players; vote in poll

Here's a look at The Arizona Republic's top 10 high school boys basketball players from the week of Feb. 12-17. Playoffs continue this week, with 3A and 2A championships and the 4A, 5A, 6A and Open championships next week. Vote in our poll below for the top overall player from last week.

Top 10 players of the week

1. Johnathan Byaus, San Tan Valley Combs, Sr.

Byaus had 11 points, 11 rebounds, four steals and three blocks, and made the game-winning steal and layup with two seconds left to beat Eastmark 66-64 in a 4A play-in game.

2. Jackson Dickinson, Tucson The Gregory School, So.

Dickinson hit the game-winning 3-pointer with a minute left to beat Anthem North Valley Christian 55-52 for the 1A state championship on Saturday night at the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.

3. Christian Carter, Thatcher, Sr.

In a second-round 3A tournament win over Holbrook, Carter had 27 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals. In a first-round win over Tucson Pusch Ridge, he had 24 points, five assists and five rebounds.

4. Nico Velez, Phoenix Desert Vista, Jr.

In a stunning upset of Boulder Creek in the first round of the Open playoffs, the point guard had 21 points, seven assists and five rebounds.

5. Kingston Tosi, Goodyear Millennium, Jr.

Tosi had 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks in a first-round Open tournament win over American Leadership Gilbert North and followed that up with 27 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks in a second-round win over

6. Luke Shaw, Chandler Valley Christian, Sr.

Shaw had 22 points, making eight-of-15 shots, in a 30-point win over Florence in the 3A state tournament Saturday. It was his first game in four weeks, coming back from a foot injury. He added four rebounds and four assists.

7. George Mihilli, ALA Queen Creek, So.

In a 59-39 4A play-in win over Saguaro, Mihilli had 17 points, six rebounds and four assists.

8. Bjorn Molenaar, Mesa Red Mountain, Jr.

In a 60-51 6A play-in win over Shadow Ridge, Molenaar had 21 points and 11 rebounds.

9. Sam O'Dowd, Tucson Rincon University, Jr.

O'Dowd had 15 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block, playing all 44 minutes in a triple-overtime 73-68 6A play-in win over Phoenix Carl Hayden.

Feb. 5-10: The Arizona Republic's top 10 high school boys basketball players of the week

10. Uriah Tenette, Prescott, Jr.

In a loss at Brophy Prep in the first round of the Open, Tenette had 33 points, four assists and three steals.
