The Arizona Republic's Top 10 high school boys basketball players of Jan. 2-6; vote in poll

Here are The Arizona Republic's Top 10 standouts from the week of Jan. 2-6 across Arizona high school boys basketball. Coaches nominated players.

1. Koa Peat, Gilbert Perry, Jr.

The 6-foot-8 star had 26 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in a 64-53 win Saturday night before an overflow crowd at Perry against Chandler Basha.

2. Styles Phipps, Phoenix St. Mary's, Sr.

The 6-2 point guard had 25 points, including a straightaway bucket from just inside the arc with 47 seconds left in a 59-53 win over Brophy Prep before an overflow crowd Wednesday.

3. Cameron Williams, St. Mary's, 6-9, So.

He had six blocked shots and 12 points in the win over Brophy.

4. Noah Gifft, Glendale Ironwood, Sr.

The 6-3 guard had 35 points in a win over a Willow Canyon team that was 15-1 coming into the game.

5. Luke Shaw, Chandler Valley Christian, Sr.

He had 26 points against Rancho Solano Prep, 22 against American Leadership Ironwood and 25 against Holbrook, all wins.

6. Desean Middlebrook, Gilbert Mesquite, So.

He had 23 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and two blocks in a 67-64 win over Scottsdale Saguaro.

7. Aidan Schmidt, Queen Creek Casteel, Sr.

The forward had 23 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Casa Grande in the Colts' only game of the week. The team improved to 14-2.

8. Devan Fowler, Phoenix Cortez, Sr.

He averaged 20 points, five assists and three steals in four games, exhibiting great leadership.

9. Mason Magee, Basha, So.

The dynamic point guard had 17 points in a 64-55 win over Boulder Creek and had 28 points in the the Perry loss, helping the Bears to a 29-29 first-half tie.

10. James Steward, Tempe Marcos de Niza, Sr.

He had 33 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks against Barry Goldwater. Leads the state in double-doubles and is among the top five in rebounds.

Honorable mention

Tim Gorham, Mesa Eastmark, Sr.

The 6-4 wing went over 1,000 career points. Has started since his freshman year in the school's first year of varsity basketball. He is averaging 21.4 points, shooting 53% from the field, and 8.9 rebounds.

Kaleel Kelly, Willow Canyon, Jr.

He had 19 points, 15 rebounds and two assists in the loss to Ironwood.

Braylon Haman, Willow Canyon, Sr.

He poured in 38 points in the loss to Ironwood.

Nigel Anderson, El Mirage Dysart, Sr.

He had 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and two steals in a 61-50 win against Paradise Honors to remain undefeated in AIA power-point games.
