Arizona Republic's high school baseball rankings through March 25: Super 10-1A

Chandler Hamilton remains at the top for the second straight week, but parity has movement across the state.

Here are The Arizona Republic's high school baseball rankings through March 25, 2023:

Super 10

1. Hamilton Huskies, 10-2

They've won seven in a row, most recently propelled by grand slams by Drew Rogers and Liam Wilson in a 21-1 win over Mountainside out of Oregon in the Coach Bob tournament.

2. Phoenix Brophy Prep Broncos, 12-3

Their stock is skyrocketing, especially after a 1-0 win Monday in a tournament at Bishop Gorman over the No. 11-ranked team in the nation. The pitching staff is deep and talented, always keeping the Broncos in games.

3. Phoenix Sandra Day O'Connor Eagles, 11-3

They drop a spot after losing to Brophy 6-3 last week. They're a dangerous 6A team loaded from top to bottom in the order and enough pitching to win a state title.

4. Scottsdale Saguaro Sabercats, 13-3

The 21-4 loss to Casteel in the Boras Classic was more an aberration than an indicator of where this team is. None of their top pitchers threw that game. When you've got Cam Caminiti, Billy Gregory and Cade Shumard at the top of your rotation, the 4A Cats can beat anybody in the state, no matter what conference.

Saguaro's Santiago Hernandez (8) takes a lead off of second base against Deer Valley pitcher Grant McMeekin (12) during a baseball game at Saguaro High School in Scottsdale on March 6, 2024.

5. Scottsdale Desert Mountain Wolves, 11-5

They're now the top team in 5A. Last week, lost a 1-0 heartbreaker against Caminiti on a day when Quinn Robertson and Sam McDonnell combined to allow only one Saguaro hit.

6. Queen Creek Casteel Colts, 8-4

Trying to get through 5A will be much tougher than figured for the Colts, who were the preseason No. 1 team in the Super 10 by The Republic. But the talent is there to go all the way.

7. Phoenix Sunnyslope Vikings, 11-3

They're still bouncing back after tough losses, letting the state know they can go far in the 6A tournament this year.

8. Chandler Basha Bears, 12-4-1

They're resilient after losses, showing they can play with anybody. Two games against Hamilton in the first week of April will be a good indicator of how ready they are for state this year.

9. Scottsdale Chaparral Firebirds, 9-5

Two lopsided losses against Hamilton and Desert Mountain but otherwise they've been tough against strong competition, hitting .319 as a team.

10. Tucson Salpointe Catholic Lancers, 8-2-1

Since an 8-1 loss to Yuma Catholic, they've taken off, winning five in a row, but the schedule gets tougher in April for this 4A team.
