Area wrestling roundup for Dec. 10: MCM takes home first at Ken Ruml Invitational

Dec. 11—HOWARD, S.D. — A trio of McCook Central/Montrose wrestlers took first place in their respective weight classes at the Ken Ruml Invitational.

MCM won the event with 129.5 points, edging out Parker (124.5) and Kingsbury County (113.5). Trystan Traupel won the 126-pound bracket, Jackson Remmers won at 152 and Carter Randall took first place at 160, while Weston Remmers finished second at 170.

Porter Neugebauer and Kolter Kramer won at 170 and 182 pounds, respectively, for Parkston, which finished in fourth place as a team.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney's Keagan Hill won the 113-pound bracket, while Daniel Dorsey and Tate Tolsma finished second at 106 and 160, respectively, to help secure a fifth-place team finish for the Titans.

Wagner's Karstyn Lhotak took first place at 120 pounds and Jhett Breen claimed the top spot at 145 pounds, while Tim Bouza finished second at 220 pounds. The Red Raiders finished in seventh place.

Griffin Clubb finished second for Howard at 195 pounds, as the Tigers came in eighth place.

GREGORY, S.D. — Bon Homme/Avon's 135.5 points at the Gregory Invitational was good enough for second place at the event.

Miller/Highmore-Harrold won the event with 160 points, Redfield (119), Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington (117) and Burke/Gregory (105) rounding out the top five. Marion/Freeman's 76 points put it in sixth.

Judd Hansen won at 106 pounds for Burke/Gregory, topping Marion/Freeman's Easton Tschetter in the first-place bout. Burke/Gregory's Owen Hansen took first place at 138 pounds and Jhett Eklund won at 160. Elsewhere for Marion/Freeman, Keaton Prehiem placed second at 132 pounds.

Jackson Kaul of Bon Homme/Avon won the 120-pound bracket, while Calvin Caba came in second at 126. Tyler Tjeerdsma finished second at 145 and Jackson Caba won at 152, with Isaac Crownover winning the 182-pound division.

FAULKTON, S.D. — Four Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes wrestlers took home first place at the Faulkton Invite, guiding the team to a second-place finish.

Kasen Konstanz (126), Gavin Braun (132), Iden Myers (138) and Carter Lenz (152) all finished in first place in their respective brackets.

A pair of first-place finishers helped lead Elk Point-Jefferson to a win at the Faulkton Invite. Gavin Jacobs won at 182 and Ben Swatek won at 170 for the Huskies, as EPJ put up 162 points as a team. KWLPG (150), Oakes (145), Faulkton (131) and Aberdeen Central JV (121) rounded out the top five.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — Alex Mentzer came in first place at 138 as the Brandon Valley boys finished fourth as a team at the Council Bluffs Wrestling Classic.

Trason Oehme (145) and Lucas Slack (182) each finished second for the Lynx. The Brandon Valley girls came in 25th place at the event.

RAPID CITY — Maxton Brozik (120) and Jack Kruger (182) both grabbed second-place finishes, as Winner Area took 10th place as a team at the Rapid City Invitational.

Pierre (196) won the event, with Sturgis (178.5) and Watertown (160.5) coming in second and third place, respectively. Mitchell finished tied for 24th, with Jagger Tyler as the highest finisher for the Kernels, taking third at 160 pounds.

Chamberlain's Noah Hutmacher won at 220 pounds, pinning everyone he faced in the bracket, including a 226-second pin of Harding County's Grey Gilbert in the finals.

For the girls, Pierre (223), Bismarck (161), Spearfish (139), Rapid City Stevens (98) and Harrisburg (94) made up the top five. Bon Homme/Avon's Peyton Hellmann won the 132-pound bracket, and Britney Rueb placed second at 126. Danny Borja (126) and Frankie Kranz (106) of Mitchell both placed fourth and sixth, respectively.
