Area roundup for Jan. 29: Bon Homme girls pick up win over Bridgewater-Emery

Jan. 29—TYNDALL, S.D. — Bon Homme improved to 9-3 on the season with five Cavaliers in double-figure scoring in a 58-44 home win over Bridgewater-Emery.

Kenadee Kozak had 13 points and five assists, while Olivia Bures had 12 points and eight rebounds. Erin Heusinkveld (10 points, 13 rebounds), Taycee Rank (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Jurni Vavruska (10 points) powered the Cavaliers. Oakley Weber had a game-high 26 points for B-E.

The Cavaliers built a comfortable 34-17 lead, then the Huskies cut the margin to 43-31 after the third quarter. Bon Homme outscored the B-E 15-13 in the final quarter to secure the win.

Bon Homme will visit Avon on Thursday, and B-E (3-9) will play Colman-Egan in Colman.

* Avon's defense lifted the Pirates to a 40-15 win over Freeman Academy/Marion in Marion. Avon had 10 steals, and held the Bearcats to just three first-half points. Courtney Sees had a game-high 10 points, along with four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Rilyn Thury notched seven points and eight rebounds, and Lila Vanderlei had six points and five rebounds. Estelle Walter led FAM with six points and seven rebounds.

* Paige Bull tallied 23 points, and Burke defeated Gayville-Volin 54-43. Emmie Hausmann added 13 points and Kailee Frank had eight points and five assists. Taylor Hoxeng scored 15 points for G-V.

* Lyman's offensive effort lifted the Raiders to a 73-60 win over Potter County in Presho. Makaylee Scott paved the way with 30 points on 8-of-19 shooting and 13 made free throws, Skyler Volmer had 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting and Brooke Palmer scored 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting. Annie Brakke added five assists, and McKenzie Laverdure had six rebounds.

* Abby Aslesen's near triple-double helped Howard to a 48-36 road win over Oldham-Ramona-Rutland. Aslesen scored 24 points, 16 rebounds and eight blocks in the win. Also for the Tigers, Liz Albrecht had 13 points and Ann Connor had five points and seven rebounds. ORR's Julia Trygstat had 10 points.

* Three Warriors reached double digits, and Winner defeated Corsica-Stickney 54-22. Ava Craven and Cici Watson each had 12 points, and Lilly Barfuss added eight points. No C-S stats were reported.

* Tripp-Delmont/Armour edged Andes Central/Dakota Christian 45-43 in Tripp. Megan Reiner had 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Kinley Spaans had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Nighthawks, who are now 8-4. Halle Olson had 14 points, while Josie Brouwer had 12 points for the Thunder.

* Canistota was outscored by De Smet 20-2 in the final quarter to fall to the Bulldogs 54-36 at home. In defeat, Tage Ortman scored 23 points, and Jaden Kleinsasser had six points. De Smet got 16 points from George Jensen.

* Winner defeated Gregory 55-48 to improve to 9-4. In the win, Aiden Barfuss scored 20 points, Zac Olson had 10 points and Shawn Hammerbeck had nine points. No Gregory stats were reported.

* Tripp-Delmont/Armour narrowly defeated Andes Central/Dakota Christian 41-39. Isaac Wunder compiled 18 points and three rebounds for the Nighthawks, while Payton Westendorf added eight points and seven rebounds. Hunter Loeffler led ACDC with 15 points, and AJ Johnson scored six points.
