AREA FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: McFalls has career night leading Hirschi past Ranchview

CARROLLTON – Jimmell McFalls threw for 314 yards, and Hirschi also rushed for 300 yards in a 60-18 dismantling of Carrollton Ranchview on Friday.

The 614 total yards are the third most for a single game in program history, trailing only the 728 yards posted against Burkburnett in 2014 and 721 against Decatur in 2017.

McFalls also had the fifth-best single-game passing performance in program history. The record is held by Mar’Tez Vrana, who threw for 365 yards against Sanger in 2016.

But it was a career performance for McFalls, who is in his third season starting for the Huskies. He completed 17 of 23 passes for three touchdowns and also rushed for 115 yards and two TDs on seven carries. It’s the first time in his career McFalls has topped 100 yards rushing.

KD Worthy led the Hirschi ground attack with 144 yards and two TDs on nine carries.

Preston Pitts was McFalls’ top receiver, catching five passes for 121 yards and two scores. Corby Wingfield caught McFalls' other TD pass.

The Huskies improve to 2-2 with the win, entering an open week.

City View fights back after losing lead

BOYD – Malachi Williams and Jeremiah Durham each surpassed 100 yards rushing and scored fourth-quarter touchdowns, keying City View’s 38-28 victory against Boyd on Friday at Yellow Jacket Stadium.

The Mustangs (2-2) collected their second straight win but had to overcome a fourth-quarter deficit after mounting an early 24-0 lead.

Boyd scored 28 consecutive points with a 27-yard pass from Braden McIntire to Jake Thomas pushing the Jackets in front, 28-24, with 11:51 remaining in the game.

The lead was short-lived with the Mustangs marching down the field and scoring on a 22-yard run by Williams for a 30-28 advantage at the 10:32 mark.

A Boyd turnover turned into a 4-yard touchdown by Jeremiah Durham, serving as the final nail in the Jackets’ coffin.

The Mustangs had 304 rushing yards with Williams picking up 164 and Durham 121. Williams also threw for 134 yards and a touchdown to Desmond Whiteside, who finished with 126 receiving yards.

Loyd completed 16 of 24 passes and was picked off twice. David Charo and Brason Zeissel combined to catch nine balls for 251 yards and six TDs.

The Panthers (3-1) finished with 576 total yards, including 221 rushing. Colton McGough turned his only two carries into 47 yards and two TDs. Layton McAdams and Slade Thompson combined for 143 rushing yards and two TDs on nine carries.

Quarterback Nicholas Gonzales rushed for two of Quanah’s three scores.
