Antonio Gibson makes his history with his first-half touchdown vs. Colts

For the second consecutive week, Washington Commanders running back Antonio Gibson has made the history books by scoring a touchdown.

Last week, when quarterback Taylor Heinicke found Gibson for a nine-yard touchdown, it was the 3,000th touchdown in Washington’s 90-year franchise history. Later that week, Heinicke and Gibson took a picture with the football before it was mailed to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

So, what could Gibson do for an encore in Washington’s Week 8 game against the Indianapolis Colts?

In the second quarter, on a first and goal from the Indianapolis 9-yard line, Heinicke finds Gibson for a touchdown, giving the Commanders a 7-3 lead. Scoring that touchdown gave him 25 for his career, which began in 2020. And some history.

Courtesy of Washington’s PR team, Gibson’s 38 touchdowns are the most by a player in the first 38 games of their career in franchise history.
