The Angelo State football team travels to West Texas A&M for last road game of the season

The Angelo State football team is back on the road again to face West Texas A&M after their last game ended in a tough 28-23 loss to UT Permian Basin.

The Rams (4-3, 3-2) struggled to stop UTPB — the No. 1 Division II offense — last week and gave up 366 total yards after leading for most of the first half. Despite the loss, ASU ranks second in the Lone Star Conference in scoring average at 32.7 points a game and in points allowed at 19.2. The Rams are also second averaging 383.1 yards a game in the LSC with wide receiver Zorhan Rideaux leading the conference with 514 yards at 73.4 a game.

The Buffs (3-5, 2-4) enter the matchup having lost three of its four conference games by less than seven points, including a 41-40 overtime loss to UTPB. West Texas is the fourth-best scoring offense in the LSC averaging 27.1 points while collecting 303.1 yards a game, however, they are seventh in yards allowed on defense at 343.3.

Angelo State holds a slim lead in the all-time series at 20-16, with the teams splitting the last four meetings, each winning two at home. The last time the Rams won in Canyon, Texas was in 2019 17-14.
