Andre Dawson Classic, an annual celebration of HBCU college baseball, moving to Vero Beach
The Andre Dawson Classic is officially moving to the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach.
Major League Baseball's annual showcase of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to celebrate the start of college baseball season will feature six programs at JRTC’s historic Holman Stadium from Feb. 23-25.
The 16th annual round-robin tournament will air live on MLB Network with a doubleheader on Feb. 23.
The tournament had been hosted in New Orleans since 2014.
Dawson, a graduate of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, is one of three MLB Hall of Famers to graduate from an HBCU alongside Lou Brock and Larry Doby. Dawson is expected to be in Vero to celebrate the event's new home.
The MLB took over control of the former Dodgertown and renamed it the Jackie Robinson Training Complex.
