Analyzing the high school baseball and softball seasons in El Paso so far

The high school baseball and softball seasos are underway, here is look at some highlights.

District 1-6A baseball

The district has been super competitive this season. Americas, Eastlake, Eastwood, Pebble Hills, Montwood and Socorro have shown ability to play at a high level and the race for the district title and the four playoff berths will be interesting.

District 1-6A softball

Montwood coach Cynthia Hernandez has assembled a strong team and the Rams are on top of the district at this point. But Eastwood, Socorro, El Dorado and Americas can't be discounted and all of them have had some good wins this season.

Ysleta baseball on rise

After missing a trip to the regional quarterfinals last season, the Indians are 15-4 this season. This team is well coached and has some quality pitching. This is a team to look out for in May.

El Paso High softball having good year

The Tigers are 16-9 overall and 3-0 in District 1-5A. Among the team's victories are against Hanks and Riverside, playoff teams from last year.
