Amad Diallo gives injury update after coming off in impressive Manchester United appearance

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has explained the injury worry which forced him off against Arsenal.

The Red Devils lost 21-year-old Amad after 70 minutes of Sunday’s one-goal defeat at Old Trafford, sparking fears he would be added to United’s lengthy absentee list.

But he has now suggested that he will be fit for Wednesday’s game against Newcastle having impressed during his first start of the season.

“The knee to knee in the first half bothered me in the second half,” wrote Amad on social media.

“Otherwise I'm fine.”

Amad picked up the injury in a challenge from Thomas Partey after a tricky run by the Ivorian, which was ended by a tackle that drew penalty appeals from the home fans.

However, Partey appeared to have got a touch on the ball with VAR not interested in a review for what was also a borderline call in terms of whether it was inside or outside the box.

United fans will hope that Ten Hag sticks with Amad for the visit of Newcastle following a performance filled with direct running and intent, although United as a collective barely threatened David Raya’s goal all game.

Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford could return from injury to reinforce the Red Devils’ attack.
