IMPACT PLAYERS: Quarterback Brendan Zurbrugg, a tremendous athlete who is verbally committed to Oklahoma, leads the way for Alliance. ... Zurbrugg will have plenty of weapons at wide receiver. Ramhir Hawkins is dynamic with the ball after the catch and set the single-season school record for receptions last year. ... K’Vaughn Davis (6-foot-5) is a massive target who is difficult to bring down after the catch. ... Alliance will be strong along the defensive line with Lucius Rowser and Aidan Mozden. ... The Aviators return four out of their five starters along the offensive line, where Rowser and Mozden are joined by Kevin Frazier and Malachai Thomas-Allen... Alliance returns three top tacklers at linebackers in Jackson Eddy, Adam Zumbar and Carter Fast.
WHAT'S NEW: Alliance will need to replace all four starters in the secondary. Some names to watch at those positions include Brady White, JR Jackson, Michael Blackwell and Hawkins. ... Finding a running back to replace Kayden Davis will also be key.
OUTLOOK: Alliance looks to have perhaps the strongest team in the Eastern Buckeye Conference this season on paper. Zurbrugg is an incredible talent at quarterback and his receivers are all extremely dangerous. Scoring points should not be a problem. The only area of concern defensively lies in a secondary that must replace all four starters. If that unit comes along quickly for Alliance, it could be a special season for coach Tim Goodman and the Aviators.
