Alice, Tuloso-Midway clash plus this week's high school football power rankings

The mass bye week has ended and now most teams either have been playing in district or will begin district play this week.

This week's clash between Alice and Tuloso-Midway is a highlight game, but some other games to watch this week include Veterans Memorial's trip to Victoria West, Santa Gertrudis Academy at San Diego and Three Rivers' game against Shiner in District 15-2A Division I.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Alice at Tuloso-Midway

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: Warrior Stadium, Tuloso-Midway High School

Records: Tuloso Midway, 6-0, 2-0; Alice 3-1, 1-0

Last week: Tuloso-Midway 47, La Feria 7; Alice was open

What to know — This is a clash of teams that have expectations of challenging Calallen for district supremacy, and a win this week could go a long way in doing that. The Warriors continue their recent successful stretch with a blowout victory that showed the prowess of their defense. Though six games this season, T-M has allowed 34 points. Alice, though, presents what could be T-M's toughest offensive challenge of the season. The Coyotes are averaging more than 340 yards and 32 points a game. A win by either team puts it in solid position to make the playoffs, but a victory also helps both squads keep up in the race to unseat Calallen.
