Alabama softball's Montana Fouts on Team USA for 2023 World Cup

Alabama softball star Montana Fouts will once again be spending her summer with Team USA, this time competing in the World Cup.

Fouts was named to the USA Softball Women's National Team for the WBSC World Cup, which will be held July 11-15 in Dublin, Ireland. It is her second appearance on Team USA, helping the squad win gold at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham.

Team USA is Group A with Chinese Taipei, Australia, Great Britain, Ireland and Botswana. Fouts joins four other current or former SEC players on the 16-person team.

Fouts is the national leader in strikeouts with 223 and is 35th overall in ERA at 1.45. She has made 27 appearances this season with a record of 15-6 and pitched in 139 ⅔ innings. Fouts has allowed 76 hits and 10 home runs while holding opponents to a batting average of .154, the lowest in her career.

Fouts is the back-to-back SEC and NFCA Pitcher of the Week and has thrown 30 innings with 10 hits, one run and 41 strikeouts in her last four appearances. She is a three-time All-American and the SEC Co-Pitcher of the Year in 2021.
