Alabama softball to host NCAA regional as overall No. 14 seed in NCAA Tournament

Alabama softball's seed for the NCAA Tournament is set and it will once again host an NCAA regional at Rhoads Stadium.

The Crimson Tide are set as the No. 14 national seed, and they will host a regional and be the top seed in Tuscaloosa. They will host a field of USC Upstate, Southeastern Louisiana and Clemson in the regional round at Rhoads Stadium. Alabama opens play Friday vs. USC Upstate on ESPN+.

The Tuscaloosa Regional is paired with the Knoxville Regional for the super-regional round. That regional is led by No. 3 overall seed Tennessee along with Dayton, Miami (Ohio) and Virginia.

It is the 25th straight NCAA Tournament made by Alabama and the 19th straight season it is hosting a regional at Rhoads Stadium, not including the canceled 2020 season. The Crimson Tide have advanced to the Women's College World Series 14 times, most recently last year, winning it all in 2012.

Alabama (33-16) is coming off a first round SEC Tournament exit, losing 3-2 to No 8 seed LSU in 14 innings. Kayla Beaver leads Alabama from the circle with an ERA of 1.78 and 162 strikeouts. Kenleigh Cahalan leads the team with a batting average of .293 to go with a team-high 46 hits and 24 RBIs.
