Alabama Softball advances to Regional Finals after defeating Middle Tennessee State 12-5

The Alabama softball team defeated Middle Tennessee State 12-5 on Saturday.

The Tide were led offensively by junior Bailey Dowling and sophomore Kali Heivilin. The two combined to have four hits while driving in seven runs.

Redshirt-sophomore Alex Salter started the game on the mound for the Tide. She went 2.1 innings while allowing four runs on three hits.

Salter was replaced by junior Jaala Torrence. Torrence provided 4.2 scoreless innings while striking out four batters along the way.

Alabama has advanced to the Regional Finals which will be played on Sunday afternoon. The Tide will await the winner of Game No. 5 between the winner of the Central Arkansas/Long Island game versus Middle Tennessee State.

The first pitch for tomorrow’s Regional Championship is set for 1 p.m. CST. Alabama would have to win one game to advance to the Super Regionals whereas the opponent would have to defeat Alabama two times to advance to the Super Regionals.
