Alabama high school wrestling: 22 Gadsden area wrestlers to watch in the postseason

The Alabama high school wrestling season is tumbling into the postseason and plenty of Gadsden area standouts are ready to make some noise.

The wrestling playoffs on the individual side is two steps, first sub state then a state meet. The sub-state is this Friday and Saturday with the state meet being held in Huntsville on Feb. 16 and 17.

Here are 22 wrestlers to watch this postseason:

Hunter Abercrombie, West End

Weight class: 175 pounds

Why: Abercrombie is coming off a year where he made state and is 16-7 this year.

Peyton Adams, Southside

Weight class: 150 pounds

Why: Adams is ranked as the No. 4 wrestler in his weight class, going 30-10 this year after placing at state last year.

Izark Bailey, Piedmont

Weight class: 132 pounds

Why: Bailey is ranked as the No. 4 wrestler in his weight class this season.

Myles Bailey, Piedmont

Weight class: 106 pounds

Why: Bailey is ranked as the No. 2 wrestler in his weight class this season.

Carter Blalock, Fort Payne

Weight class: 106 pounds

Why: Blalock is ranked as the No. 2 wrestler in his weight class this season.

Owen Burns, Ashville

Weight class: 106 pounds

Why: Burns is ranked as the No. 3 wrestler in his weight class this season.

Justin Campbell, Gadsden City

Weight class: 126 pounds

Why: Campbell has gone 16-18 this year with 13 pins.

Hayden Davis, Fort Payne

Weight class: 106 pounds

Why: Davis is ranked as the No. 2 wrestler in his weight class this season.

Tyler Ebner, Ashville

Weight class: 165 pounds

Why: Ebner is ranked as the No. 1 wrestler in his weight class this season.

Hayden Graham, Southside

Weight class: 144 pounds

Why: Graham is ranked as the No. 5 wrestler in his weight class, going 38-10 this year.

David Herrick, Cherokee County

Weight class: 157 pounds

Why: Norris is ranked as the No. 2 wrestler in his weight class, going 29-14 this year.

Braison Howard, West End

Weight class: 122 pounds

Why: Howard has gone 20-17 this year and has placed in the top-4 in multiple tournaments as an eighth grader this year.

Owen Meads, Ashville

Weight class: 120 pounds

Why: Meads is ranked as the No. 6 wrestler in his weight class.

Jykari Norris, Southside

Weight class: 113 pounds

Why: Norris is ranked as the No. 3 wrestler in his weight class, going 29-14 this year.

Ephram Ormiston, Southside

Weight class: 126 pounds

Why: Ormiston is ranked as the No. 2 wrestler in his weight class, going 39-6 this year.

Alfredo Rodriguez, Susan Moore

Weight class: 120 pounds

Why: Rodriguez will look to make some noise in the playoffs after a strong regular season.

Kurtis Soles, Cherokee County

Weight class: 132 pounds

Why: Bailey is ranked as the No. 2 wrestler in his weight class this season.

Joey Stephens, Albertville

Why: Stephens has gone 23-7 this year and looks to make noise in the playoffs.

Landon Thompson, Susan Moore

Weight class: 106 pounds

Why: Thompson will look to make some noise in the playoffs after a strong regular season.

Jimmy Traylor, Gadsden City

Weight class: 175 pounds

Why: One of the few veterans for the Titans, he has gone 8-19 but looks to take the next step in the postseason.

Nick Williamson, Ashville

Weight class: 157 pounds

Why: Williams is ranked as the No. 1 wrestler in his weight class.

Omari Zachery, Gadsden City

Weight class: 150 pounds

Why: Zachery has gone 7-10 this season.
