Alabama high school softball playoffs: How Gadsden area teams fared in area tournaments

The Alabama high school softball area tournaments have wrapped up and plenty of Gadsden area teams took home area crowns.

The most important thing though was to get to the championship game as that secured a spot in the regional round starting Monday in Albertville, for most area teams.

Here's how each Gadsden area team did in their area tournaments.

Class 7A, Area 7

Champ: Huntsville

Runner-up: Sparkman

Gadsden area team eliminated: Albertville

Class 6A, Area 12

Champ: Oxford

Runner-up: Clay-Chalkville

Gadsden area team eliminated: Gadsden City

Chasidy Autrey made the all-tournament for the Titans.

Class 6A, Area 14

Champ: Buckhorn

Runner-up: Fort Payne

Class 5A, Area 13

Champ: Southside

Runner-up: Boaz

Gadsden area team eliminated: Sardis

Class 5A, Area 14

Champ: Scottsboro

Runner-up: Guntersville

Class 4A, Area 10

Champ: White Plains

Runner-up: Jacksonville

Class 4A, Area 12

Champ: Cherokee County

Runner-up: Oneonta

Gadsden area team eliminated: Ashville and Etowah

Class 3A, Area 10

Champ: Piedmont

Runner-up: Weaver

Savannah Smith dominated in the circle with nine strikeouts in the 3-1 championship game win for the Bulldogs and helped her cause with an RBI. Cayla Brothers and Eliza Mathis brought in the other RBIs.

Class 3A, Area 11

Champ: Hokes Bluff

Runner-up: Glencoe

Hokes Bluff run-ruled Glencoe in the championship game using nine hits in the 10-0 five-inning win. Chloe Dodd had four RBIs including a two-run homerun while Sophia Jackson out did her with a three run homer and five total RBIs, scoring twice. Lacey Grace Hall continued her ace behavior with a complete game, four strikeout night.

Class 3A, Area 13

Champ: JB Pennington

Runner-up: Vinemont

Gadsden area team eliminated: Susan Moore

Class 3A, Area 14

Champ: Plainview

Runner-up: Geraldine

Gadsden area team eliminated: Sylvania

Class 2A, Area 10

Champ: West End

Runner-up: Cleveland

West End's Brayley King had four hits in a 14-1 win to advance to the title game before the Patriots squeezed out an 11-10 win. King, Liddy Falkner, Josie Bunch had two RBIs while Kennedi Nix brought in three RBIs.

Class 2A, Area 11

Champ: Sand Rock

Runner-up: Fyffe

Gadsden area team eliminated: Gaston and Collinsville

Class 2A, Area 15

Champ: Pisgah

Runner-up: North Sand Mountain

Class 1A, Area 11

Champ: Spring Garden

Runner-up: Cedar Bluff

Class 1A, Area 12

Champ: Ragland

Runner-up: Coosa Christian
