Alabama basketball signees Derrion Reed, Aidan Sherrell tabbed as McDonald's All-Americans
Alabama basketball signees Derrion Reed and Aiden Sherrell were named to the McDonalds All-American Games roster on Tuesday. The game will be played in Houston on April 2.
The selection means Reed and Sherrell were selected as two of the top high school players in the country and will compete against other top players nationally. Reed and Sherrell, who both attend Prolific Prep in Napa Valley, California, will play for the West Team in the game.
Reed, a 6-foot-7 five-star prospect, is ranked the No. 12 player nationally and No. 3 power forward, according to 247Sports' Composite rankings. Sherrell is also a five-star, tabbed as the No. 21 player overall and No. 4 center.

Players can only be nominated for the McDonalds' All-American Game by a high school head coach, athletic director or principal, or by the All-American Game selection committee, per their website. Then, players are selected based on athletic and scholastic achievement.
Some of the NBA's brightest stars are alums of the All-American Game, such as LeBron James, James Harden, Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis. Alabama has now signed five McDonald's All-Americans under Nate Oats, including Brandon Miller, the No. 2 pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, and Jaden Bradley in the class of 2022. JD Davison was a 2021 McDonald's All-America selection as well.
The Crimson Tide's 2024 recruiting class, which also includes four-star Naas Cunningham, is ranked sixth nationally, according to 247Sports.
