The University of Akron will not be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Mid-American Conference men's basketball tournament.

The Zips (21-10, 13-5) fell to second place Friday night when they lost 90-84 at Western Michigan while Toledo was beating Kent State 86-71. Akron could have clinched the MAC regular-season championship and completed an undefeated home season Tuesday night, but instead it was upset 61-60 by Eastern Michigan.

Friday's results vaulted the Rockets (20-11, 14-4) over the Zips and into the top spot for the MAC Tournament, set for March 14-16 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.

Akron couldn't hold a 14-point halftime against the Broncos (12-9, 9-9), who got 23 points from B. Artis White, including 16 down the stretch in the second half.

Greg Tribble led the way for the Zips (21-10, 13-5) with 18 points and five assists. Ali Ali added 17 points and six assists, and Enrique Freeman had another double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Akron led by as many as 17 points in the first half before settling for a 45-31 halftime advantage. But the Broncos flipped the script in the second half, taking their first lead of the game at 58-57 when Artis White capped a 10-0 run with a 3-pointer with 11:11 to play.

Artis White shot 7 for 11 (5 for 8 from 3-point range) and 4 of 6 from the free-throw line for the Broncos, whose lead peaked at 80-67 with 1:58 to play.
