Here's a look at the Week 2 top 10 high school football teams in the Shreveport-Bossier City area, as ranked by the USA Today Sports Network, after votes by area coaches and reviewing power ratings.

With Ruston getting knocked off in their opener by Warren Easton for a second consecutive season, Airline moves into the top spot after outlasting North DeSoto 53-42 Friday night.

Here are our picks after one week of play:

  1. Airline (1-0) – The Vikings overcame a slow start against North DeSoto, scoring 33 points in the third quarter thanks to two interceptions by Jayden Gladney. The Farmers always present a formidable force. Last week: No. 2; This week: vs. Union Parish (1-0)

2. Calvary (1-0) – Abram Wardell and company posted 425 yards against Class 1A Logansport, but the going will be tougher this week against 5A Captain Shreve. Last week: No. 3; This week: at Captain Shreve (1-0)

3. Captain Shreve (1-0) – Shreve started slowly against Loyola, but the Gators found their footing after intermission. A slow start against the Cavaliers could be disastrous. Last week: No. 4; This week: vs. Calvary (1-0)

BEST OF BEST: Top performers in North Louisiana football, volleyball for the week of Aug. 28-Sept. 2.

4. Ruston (0-1) – The Bearcats had their chances to defeat Warren Easton in their rematch from 2022 but couldn’t close the deal. The schedule doesn’t get any easier this week with a road trip to New Orleans. Last week: No. 1; This week: at Jesuit (1-0)

5. Parkway (1-0) – The Panthers found themselves in a testy battle with Minden in Week 1, but Antonio Gladney’s 272 rushing yards and three TDs provided the difference. Last week: No. 5; This week: vs. Red River (0-1)

6. North DeSoto (0-1) – The Griffins are seeking to rebound from Friday’s high-scoring loss to Airline, but they’ll have to do it against a team that’s scored 146 points in two games. Last week: No. 6; This week: vs. Center, Texas (2-0)

7. Evangel (0-1) – The Eagles came within a two-point conversion of knocking off Neville on the road in Week 1. They shouldn’t need a conversion to get past the Wolverines at Rodney Duron Stadium. Last week: No. 7; This week: vs. Mansfield (0-1)
