Aidan Liedeke of Charyl Stockwell finished his three-year career with 403 strikeouts.

Aidan Liedeke’s final numbers are in the books, the final chapter coming sooner than he and his Charyl Stockwell baseball teammates hoped.

Liedeke pitched another gem, but the Sentinels couldn’t provide run support in a 1-0 loss to Ann Arbor Greenhills in a Division 3 district championship game Friday at Concordia University.

Stockwell reached its fourth consecutive district final with a 13-1 victory over Taylor Prep. Liedeke started that game, striking out six of the seven batters he faced before being pulled after two innings. He had thrown 25 pitches and was armed with a 5-0 lead. Noah Piesko pitched the final three innings for a combined no-hitter.

Liedeke went five innings against Greenhills, allowing two hits and fanning 10. Jeremiah Bowman matched him, giving up three hits in five scoreless innings. Charlie Rich and Sam Dorfman each threw an inning of no-hit relief for Greenhills.

Greenhills scored the game’s only run when Fran Love walked with two outs in the third inning, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a ground single to right by Dorfman.

Liedeke surpassed the 400-strikeout plateau in his final high school game, finishing with 403 in 188⅓ career innings. He had 133 in 63⅔ innings this season.

The only Livingston County pitchers with more strikeouts, according to MHSAA records, are Brighton’s Drew Henson with 528 from 1995-98 and Fowlerville’s John Steiger with 492 from 1994-97.

The Sentinels had plenty of offense in the district semifinal. Braden Leverenz and Caleb Moore hit home runs, with Moore and Teddy Gottbreht each driving in four runs. Trevor Hogland hit two doubles.

Chelsea 4, Pinckney 1

Lucas Dawson of Chelsea allowed only four hits and struck out seven in seven innings to eliminate Pinckney (17-17) in a Division 2 district semifinal at Mason.

Nolan Carruthers had two of Pinckney’s hits.
