CHRISTOPHER CRAWFORD: Teoscar Hernandez had a breakout 2020 season that saw him rank among the best fantasy options in baseball. Despite this and despite the fact that Hernandez is still just 28 years old, the outfielder wasn't even a universal top 100 pick, going around 86th over on Yahoo leagues on average.

Those who drafted him in that range have to be thrilled with what they've gotten in 2021 and especially as of late. Over the last 15 days as of Monday, Hernandez is slashing 453, 473, 736, with four homers over 53 at bats. And the metrics show that these are deserved, even if there are some numbers that will frustrate as well.

He's near the 95th percentile or better an average exit velocity, hard hit percentage, expected on base percentage, expected batting average, and expected slugging. Of course, those numbers come with well below average chase rates and win percentage, but you've got to take the good with the bad. Hernandez may not be an elite option, but he's pretty darn close to it. And there's every reason to think he'll continue this good run over the last six weeks or so.
