Ada boys finish 10th at Lake Hefner course
Apr. 27—OKLAHOMA CITY — The Ada High School boys golf team finished 10th in a tough field at the 2024 Guthrie BlueJay Bash hosted by the Lake Hefner Golf Club Thursday in Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma City Storm Gold squad and Plainview tied for the team title with identical scores of 295. Oklahoma Christian School finished third with a 297, Woodward was fourth at 303 and the Oklahoma City Storm Blue team was fifth at 307.
Ada ended up with a team score of 320.
Ada freshman Drake Kanuch finished in a three-way tie at the top of the medalist race with a 71. Jace Chaney and Hudson Hobbs of Plainview, along with Emerson Majma of the OKC Storm — also turned in scores of 71. He officially finished third after a playoff.
Oklahoma Christian School teammates Reed Higgins and Ty Neatherlin and Kingfisher's Myles Harrison were all three a single stroke back at 72 at the crowded top of the leaderboard.
"Drake continues to have an outstanding freshman season with another Top 5 finish. However, he is going to need someone else to step up and play better for us to qualify for the state tournament," said Ada head coach Robbie Powell. "We improved a bit today but not enough."
It's on to the postseason for the Cougars, who will compete in the Class 4A Regional Tournament at the Wolf Mountain Country Club in Wister on May 1.
