ACC baseball power rankings: Clemson remains No. 1 with Duke, Wake Forest on its heels

There's four weeks left in the regular season, and North Carolina baseball is the only team to clinch a spot in the 12-team ACC tournament.

More programs will follow as seven ACC teams rank in the Top 25 in the latest USA TODAY Sports coaches poll. Four of the top seven teams in last week's power rankings faced one another with Wake Forest taking down Florida State and NC State upsetting UNC, which caused movement in the top seven.

Here's where every ACC team ranks 10 weeks into the season (Records and rankings are as of April 23)

1. Clemson (32-8, 13-5 ACC)

Last week: 1

What to know: After losing their first ACC series of the year to NC State, the No. 4 Tigers beat Pittsburgh 2-1. Pitcher Tristan Smith returned from injury in the opener, and Jimmy Obertop crushed three homers in the finale to clinch the series. Clemson lost 4-3 to No. 17 Georgia on Tuesday and faces Louisville this weekend.

2. Duke (29-12, 13-8)

Last week: 2

What to know: The No. 6 Blue Devils won their fourth straight ACC series, beating Virginia Tech 2-1. Charlie Beilenson won ACC pitcher of the week after five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and one hit allowed in two appearances. After losing 18-4 to Campbell Tuesday, Duke hosts Florida State this weekend.

3. Wake Forest (26-14, 11-10)

Last week: 6

What to know: The No. 11 Demon Deacons won their third straight ACC series after beating Florida State 2-1. Each of their wins came by one run, including Cameron Gill scoring on a walk-off wild pitch in the finale to clinch the series. After getting shut out 3-0 by Elon Tuesday, Wake faces Notre Dame on the road this weekend.

4. Florida State (32-8, 11-7)

Last week: 4

What to know: After losing their first non-conference game to Mercer, the No. 9 Seminoles' woes continued, losing 2-1 to Wake Forest. FSU sits in second in the Atlantic Division behind Clemson.

5. Virginia (31-11, 12-9)

Last week: 3

What to know: The No. 12 Cavaliers struggled in their 2-1 series loss to Georgia Tech at home. They suffered a 13-2 run-rule loss in the opener, needed extra innings Saturday to tie the series and lost 17-12 in the finale. It battles Boston College this weekend.

6. North Carolina (31-10, 15-6)

Last week: 5

What to know: The No. 14 Tar Heels lost 2-1 to NC State in their series, losing by one run in the final innings in each defeat. UNC hosts Virginia Tech at Boshamer Stadium, where it is 24-1 this season, this weekend.

7. NC State (22-16, 12-9)

Last week: 7

What to know: The No. 23 Wolfpack earned their ranked status back after winning the series against UNC. They defeated their rival behind a walk-off solo homer in the opener and a three-run eighth inning Friday. NC State lost 10-6 to No. 7 East Carolina Tuesday and battles Ball State this weekend.

8. Virginia Tech (26-12, 12-9)

Last week: 8

What to know: The Hokies dropped out of the Top 25 after losing the series to Duke. They dropped the opener in extra innings and won the following game in the 11th inning. Virginia Tech blew a 9-4 lead in the seventh in the finale.

9. Georgia Tech (25-14, 9-9)

Last week: 10

What to know: The Yellow Jackets have won three straight ACC series after beating Virginia 2-1. Matthew Ellis won ACC player of the week after going 6-for-12 with one home run and seven RBIs in the series. Georgia Tech hosts Miami this weekend.

10. Louisville (24-16, 9-9)

Last week: 11

What to know: The Cardinals went 3-1, winning their series against Miami and handling Western Kentucky 16-5 Tuesday. They held the Hurricanes to five runs to win the first two games, but gave up 17 runs in Sunday's loss.

11. Boston College (20-19, 7-14)

Last week: 9

What to know: The Eagles dropped their third consecutive ACC series after getting swept by Notre Dame. They were outscored 36-7, have the worst ERA in the conference with 7.12 and have allowed the most runs (291).

12. Miami (18-22, 7-14)

Last week: 12

What to know: The Hurricanes dropped their third straight ACC series. The Hurricanes avoided the sweep against Louisville with a dominant 17-5 win.

13. Notre Dame (20-18, 5-16)

Last week: 14

What to know: The Fighting Irish are on a five-game win streak after sweeping Boston College for their second ACC series win. They earned two run-rule victories in the series and have outscored their opponents 58-18 during their win streak.

14. Pittsburgh (16-20, 5-16)

Last week: 13

What to know: The Panthers are still seeking their first ACC series win this year after losing two games to Clemson. They went 2-2 after winning 17-1 against St. Bonaventure on April 17. Pitt sits in last place in the ACC's Coastal Division.
